Here's the reply I got from See's about their GF status. At least some of their goodies are. Since we have had about 5 pounds in the past week, it's probably a good thing I can't eat most of it!

Thank you for visiting Sees.com. Our Quality Assurance Manager advises

that almost all our candies have the potential to cross contact with

other foods that contain gluten because we use common equipment to

manufacture many of our confections.

At this time there are thirteen (13) items offered by See's that our

Quality Assurance Manager would consider gluten free:

Almond Royals

Toffee-ettes

Assorted Sugar Sticks

Sugar Twists

See's Dark Chocolate with Almonds Candy Bar

See's Milk Chocolate with Almonds Candy Bar

See's Milk Chocolate with Toffee Candy Bar

See's Milk Chocolate Candy Bar

See's Milk Chocolate Novelties (balls, eggs, clowns, ghosts,

leprechauns, hearts, solid rabbits, pumpkins, solid Santas, coins,

turkeys, Seegars)

Milk Chocolate Drops

Super Chocolate Chips

Fancy Mixed Nuts

See's Dark Chocolate Novelties (balls, eggs)

I hope this information is helpful. Thank you for your interest in

See's Candies.

Are any of your candies gluten-free?

I just overindulged last week and felt fine...actually felt really happy :-)Please excuse my brevity. Sent from mobile. On Dec 22, 2009, at 4:44 PM, "Pam Newbury" <pknewbury@...> wrote:

the variety at See’s but not the getting sick.

I’d be interested to know how many on the list eat See’s with no

problem versus how many have gotten sick, and how recently and how often the

experience was. I am wondering if they are more careful now than in the past

and if they have resolved whatever cross contamination issues must have been

going on.

Sorry that you had problems with See's, Pam. My wife has tried several types of candy since we found out that they had the GF list. So far, no problem, and she has severe CS (the anemia, blood transfusions, etc.). On the other hand, I have also been buying chocolates from an artisan chocolate maker, Chocolate Dream in Los Gatos, for my wife. They're not cheap, but I talked to the chocolatier Holly who informed me that they were all gluten free. - From a chocoholic (oh where, oh where have ph Schmidt's dark chocolate truffles [maybe not gluten-free] gone?)
