I had my son Devin in a DOC band a little over a year ago. When he was born the

back of his head was flat and he was put in the band when he was 5 1/2 months

old for 16 weeks.

Anyway, I have a new baby who is now 7 weeks old. was born with a perfect

little round head but suddenly today it is looking a little flat to me. He

spends as little time on his back as possible. I wear him as much as I can so

his sweet 1 year old brother doesn't try to squash him. He does sleep on his

back. He is only in a carseat when we are in the car, he isn't carried around

in it. He doesn't like the swing so that is out too.

What can I do to try and round things out? He has tummy time daily - both on a

mat and takes a nap on my chest. Should I already head into Cranial Tech again?

I am in a panic!

Help!!!

I would buy a memory foam wedge for him to sleep on when he's on his back.http://reviews.walmart.com/1336/4631162/dex-3-in-1-secure-sleeper-ultra-with-memory-foam-reviews/reviews.htm?page=3Or MIMO pillow (saw it on a plagio thread, did not use it myself). Our memory foam wedge worked very well for our oldest son, he has a beautiful skull, literally gets compliments on it! Used the same one for his sister, she was doing super well on it and suddenly at 3 months she got a flat head over a three week period. I could not understand why. Went up and looked at the memory foam wedge and found that the maid who had done the

laundry had put the memory foam in back to front, so the baby was sleeping on the 'hard' foam, not the memory foam. I did the calculation of when I had asked her to wash the cover for the wedge and found had been three weeks of my baby lying on that hard foam (about the same hardness as a mattress) and that coincided with when her head shape started changing gave her a flat head that she never recovered from (despite physio etc) and led to a band. So the conclusion is that despite her torticollis her memory foam was really working to keep her head round until she stopped sleeping on the memory foam - so I conclude the memory foam really really helps prevent flat head! Also saw another parent mentioned the following pillow for this but did not use it myself: http://www.aperfectpillow.com/ BegertSculptorwww.lesliebegert.com(415) 490 7131From: AmyM <alb5118@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Fri, January 7, 2011 8:30:00 PMSubject: Hi! I heard the noggin nest is great for the car seat/stroller (see link below).

Have you tried repositioning, moving the crib so he focuses different directions

each night...etc? If you are nursing, I have read (dont quote me or take my

advise with out talking to his doc) that Vitamin D has a huge affect on the

softness of the skull. I didnt know till it was too late. Now my LO gets

vitamin d drops every day. Best of luck!

Does your baby have torticollis? You can have him evaluated. But also observe if

he is comfortable moving his head side to side equally. I can't even remember

how much head control a 7 week old has - except that i don't think it is much. A

little flattening is pretty normal, but keep your eye on it. If you don't think

tort is a problem then keep doing what you are doing, and take photos every week

or two to compare the shape. If you notice it worsening then around 3 months old

take him for an evaluation. I don't think you need to do it before that unless

it is moderate-severe.
