Guest guest
What are these " Actiq Lollypops?? Can I get these from my family physician?? How well do they work?? Anyway, to let everyone know, I had my elective surgery yesterday. The surgery went ok (nothing panc related). Well, when I woke in the recovery room, I was in extreme pain. So the staff gave me some demerol (50 mg). I looked at my hubby shaking my head. I take that same amount twice a day, every day. Needless to say, they proceeded to give me 50mg shots of demerol, which didn't seem to do anything. Then they dumped 5 doses of Dialaud (sp?), and my pain still wasn't controlled. Then they switched back to the demerol. Of course with all this going on in the recovery room, the head nurse came in to tell me that I couldn't have any more pain meds and I was only allowed a certain amount of time in the recovery room and then they would have to charge me $500 to stay overnight.. There was no way I was going to stay overnight there. I was in the recovery room for 3 1/2 hours, and yes I totally understand that they have to keep patients moving along. All I was waiting for,was my pain to be under control. Anyway, the head nurse went and got my doc out of another surgery and came to my bed. As soon as they came to my bed, the head nurse seemed to be suddenly very " sweet " . I also got some " flak " from another nurse who proceeded to ask me why I was taking meperidine at home? You don't know how bad I wanted to say " None of your business! " Well, I'll chalk that one up to another bad hospital visit. I am feeling much better today, but my pancreas decided give me alot of pain. That is why they couldn't get my pain under control in the recovery room. I figured out if I take two demerol capsules about every 5-6 hours then I can get around alittle. Well, sorry for the venting. It was definitely one of those experiences that I won't forget. I hope everyone is having a decent day. Take care Kris in TN
