Guest guest
Hi Jerry, I hope you're doing well. Thanks for the ERCP warning. I had one in 1988 and was pretty desperate afterwards for a couple of days. Of course, at the time I didn't know I had CP and neither the ERCP didn't show up anything conclusive at that time. It was many more years until a CT scan in 2003 showed up extensive calcifications and atrophy of the pancreas. I think it's worth my while having this ERCP, Jerry, because it is part of research into secondary screening for pancreatic cancer currently being carried out by Europac at the oncology dept in the Liverpool Royal. I am very high risk because I have long-standing hereditary pancreatitis going right back to the age of five. New methods of analysing the pancreatic juice for malignant or pre- malignant changes are being developed and they may eventually help me or others. Believe me, I'd think twice otherwise about having an ERCP at all! I'm prepared to have to spend a few days in hospital if necessary. I've been told it's less likely for me because my pancreas is so far gone now and pretty well inactive. Apparently it's less likely to be provoked into action by an ERCP than might otherwise be the case. Anyway, give me a thought on the 24th....and also on 19th Nov. when my husband will be having his tests to determine the extent of his prostate cancer which has just been diagnosed. Not my best time to date. I hope you are OK. I haven't posted as much lately, largely beacuse of Jim's problems and work etc. I always enjoy your posts though! Yes, Madrid was great. I look forward to going again. Take care and thanks for the kind words and warning! With very good wishes, Fliss (UK)
