Guest guest
I am not surprised that you would be constipated eating only meat, eggs and bananas. Why are you limiting the menu to only these foods??? This is NOT the way SCD should be done.... at ALL. You've GOT to add some vegetables and other fruits.... you need more variety and fiber. Patti HELP! Intro diet for 5 weeks and still constipated! We have eaten nothing but beef, chicken, eggs and bananas for 5 weeks now and are still constipated. We are on Miralax too! We had big time die-off at week 2 & 3 (aggression and insomnia). Now we have insomnia and are very hyper. (ASD child 11 yrs old). Other than the insomnia and hyper-activeness, behaviors are much improved. What am I doing wrong? Dave P.S. I am doing the diet with my son and have lost 12 pounds! (hopefully due to the diet, not the stress from working 2 jobs with no sleep)
Guest guest
With nothing but meat, eggs, and bananas, I think anyone would be constipated. Why don't you try adding in some veggies? Guest guest
I totally agree with ABarberi that more vegetables and fruit should be added to the menu. The SCD Goat Yogurt also helps. Start out with a tiny dose such as 1/8 of a teaspoon. Mimi > > With nothing but meat, eggs, and bananas, I think anyone would be > constipated. Why don't you try adding in some veggies? > > > HELP! Guest guest
Well, you have already been told by many that you should have introduced other fruits and vegetables by five weeks in. Remember though, that you should introduce them one at a time...allowing a couple of days between new foods to make sure that you don't see in problems with them i.e. behaviorally, diharea, ect. Also, make sure to peal, seed, and cook them unless otherwise noted...avocado and banana. If you haven't already seen it, the " beyond the intro diet " section at the pecanbread.com site can be helpful in guiding you to which foods are usually more easily tolerated first. You'll find it in the food preparation section. Meleah SCD 05/06 iel 3.5yrs. ASD, Ethan 5yrs., Mark 19mths., both NT HELP! Intro diet for 5 weeks and still constipated! Guest guest
To get the full affects of SCDiet it was important for us to follow the guidelines outlined in BTVC book. Without adequate fiber from frits and vegetables a person will never get over constipation. Intro for five weeks is not required. Only two days, or until diarrhea is cleared. Anything else can defeat the purpose and cause nutritional deficiencies and other side affects that you surely do not want. The bad gut bugs die off fast when not being fed. Question the rationale that you are having to make you think that intro is needed for such an extended time frame. Hope this gives hope so that you can move on to more foods! If this does not help his constipation issues, be sure to ask the serve for Elaine's Constipation Protocol. But I truly do not think it will be needed once you add peeled and cooked veggies and fruits.
