And how do they treat this? And what kind of test do they do to find out if

that is what she has? Deb A

Gastro-esophogeal reflux? Just a thought, n Rojas

Question!!

OK guys I have a question and I know someone on here will have an answer for

me! We went to clinic on Monday and the girls are doing great but my youngest

complains about food coming back up into her mouth (sorry about being so

graphic) when I talked to her doctor about it I said sometimes I wonder if it

is

because she runs around after she eats or if it is something else. Well, this

morning while she was trying to take her vitamins and mind you she hadn't

eaten

a thing yet she said mom I can't take these pills yet until the stuff quits

coming up into my mouth and I said what food you haven't eat yet she said I

know

but it is coming from my throat. I was shocked!! Has anyone else have a child

that has had this happen? Deb A

That sounds like reflux to me. They can do a swallow study to confirm this. If

your cf doc won't order one then take her to a gastro. doc. If it is actually

food that is still coming up she could also have a slow emptying stomach. Patti

has both. She takes reglan for the slow stomach and the zantac for the reflux.

I originally was placed on Reglan before all the other tests and meds,

Cheers, n Rojas--Reglan increases gastric motility, thus getting

the good out a bit sooner--works fine unless one has a giant hiatal hernia!

Deb A,

I believe she is experiencing reflux and should be

on acid blockers like prilosec or something. This

can be a very serious condition, since there is risk

of aspiration, and the acid can eat away at the

espophagus. Have her see a gastro enterologist. He

or she can help reduce the reflux and treat its

symptoms.

Good luck,

C
