Guest guest
DEAR Sweet MARCIA, I am really concerned for you & feel you will be well taken care of. Your calm & confidence is great. I know that many of us will be having great special thought sessions for you. I did ask all my friends at church to continue with many thought sessions & diligence. You are a very special lady.......... You have many angels watching over you. Please keep us in your thoughts & know we are here . Becky & her family are so thrilled with your help for them. Each child is so happy their mom can correspond on the laptop computer you got for her now. She is always doing " stuff " for them. now they see her happy to be able to correspond with her friends & support group too. You made that happen. I wish for you much peace & good news at the next appointment too. It is your turn.............. LOVE & HUGS, GrandmoMBEV Thank you for the positive thoughts - and update Thank you all for the positive thoughts for today. I had five biopsies on the lymph nodes in my neck. For those of you who suggested getting a second opinion. Yes, this is the third endo I have seen. He is really very good. He is known nationally for his expertise in metastasis following thyroid cancer. I really feel I am in good hands. The good news is that one of the nodes seemed " softer than he expected " . That could mean it is benign. It is the one furthest up the neck, which may mean the incision will not go as far up my neck. The original plan was from behind my right ear down to my shoulder blade area and across the front to the other shoulder blade area, cleaning out the thyroid bed and all of the lymph nodes on the right side. I will know more in about a week, when the pathology reports are in. Keep thinking positive thoughts. . .maybe we can improve the picture even more! Guest guest
Marcia, When is the surgery scheduled? Don't do it when moon is in Aries (Aries rules head and neck); it will slow healing if you do it at that time... shoot for the moon in another sign. Are you taking selenium? Larry asked that I look for things to help him during his battle with cancer. He was hopeful and gung ho, trying everything I suggested. but after his first surgery things went so well he stopped it all and returned to his usual crappy diet. People with cancer who take high doses of selenium (around 400 mcg daily) show a greater success rate than people not supplementing with selenium. Also, green tea and tangerines are excellently recommended (but especially indicated in skin cancers) -- basically a diet in fresh fruits and veggies, mostly raw not cooked, and foods that are labeled organic as much as possible (though I know they're more expensive). There is a woman doctor (Germany, I think) who developed a specific diet; it's very restrictive and you must adhere to it a long time, but her success rate is very good. Oddly, the combo of required foods includes cottage cheese and champagne! I'll have to see if I can find the info again if you're at all interested. But I know right now you've got a lot to deal with, and I'm so sorry you're going through this. I wish we could all show up at your doorstep with casseroles and tea and cakes, hold your hands, fold your laundry and wish the bad stuff away. You're in our prayers. Guest guest
Marcia, will this include the parathyroids, too? No answer really needed, just wanted to bring it up as a related concern, not to be overlooked--my eldest syster had the thyroid and the parathyroids removed--Love to you; you are not alone in all this--every time you go to the doctor or to the OR, this whole list will be traipsing in after you! Guest guest
n, I don't think they plan on taking the parathyroids, but you never know what may happen to them. When I had my thyroid removed, we " lost " my parathyroids for TWO YEARS. The surgeon said he had not removed them and they did not show up in pathology but, after surgery I went into tetanny (a type of shock from very low calcium). My parathyroids seemed to be " stunned " . I took 50,000 units of vitamin D every day and 500mg calcium every four hours for two years. Then when I was pregnant with my daughter, my calcium started going very high. By the time I had her, I only needed a once a day supplement. My parathyroids had " kicked in " two years later. My doctors said that is very bizarre and doesn't often happen. I hope this time around, they keep track of those little buggers. Thanks for all of the info, n, and thanks for " traipsing in after me " . Marcia Re: Thank you for the positive thoughts - and update Marcia, will this include the parathyroids, too?
