Guest guest
Rosemary, Do they always do that suctioning after sinus surgery? I wonder why my son's surgeon hasn't mentioned that. It sure sounds painful. As I read what your boys have gone through, I am really dreading this surgery for Ben. I hope they are doing well and that the surgeries have made great improvement in their sinus condition. Guest guest
ROSEMARY, just why do you not have your own TV show; you are much funnier and more realistic than Dr. Phil!!!!Love, n Gentamicin in Sinus' Both and Dylan got a clean bill of health at the ENT today. is supposed to be doing gentamincin as an inhalation and every time he tries he starts coughing like mad. Has anyone experienced this? ENT suctioned both boys noses - with much SCREAMING and TEARS!!!!!!! Thankfully its over. I kept telling that its like giving birth...the Dr.'s head spun around like Blair in the Exorcist! I explained how it hurts for a while but its worth it. Thats how I explained their surgery. Guest guest
They don't always suction - only when there is crust and " gook " up there. We irrigate 2 daily. He only suctions the post op visit - thankfully.................the surgery is a few hours of feeling crummy - like labor - but after - you feel great....the night of 's surgery he was laying in bed and said (after vomiting blood 13 times) I am so happy to be home. Kids realize the value of it. Yes, for a bit they will feel not so great - as one Dr. said " like a hangover " but it is worth it to alleviate the headaches, etc. I don't mean to scare you. Dylan NEVER vomited. He was just sleepy which is fine by me!! Rosemary in NY with 3 children (13, 11 and 7) with CF. Rosemary When has had her surgeries they have her come back in a week to clean her out but they will but her under and wheel her into the surgery rooms and clean her out. She always things she is having surgery again which it seems like it because they go through the same procedures but it only take them about 20 minutes to do it. I think it takes longer to get her set up then it does to do the procedure. I think this way is so much less stressful on them. She hates being put under but I know how she would be if they didn't put her under. She would be pulling there arms away. Well glad it is all over and done with. I think it is so weird to see how different each of the ENT's treat the sinuses. always goes back to the ENT 3-4 days after the surgery and he is cleaned out after a squirt of novacaine and afrin. No packing is used. We resume the nasal rinsing after this visit. He goes to the ENT every 3 weeks so get suctioned. His ENT's theory is that the cleaner we can keep the sinuses from all the gunky build up the less likely they will have an inflammatory response and grow polyps or develop infections. It's not working on the preventing infections part but so far he has gone a year without surgery. As long as insurance pays for it we will go. Sometimes will ask to go early because a crust is bothering.
