Guest guest
Hi Sandy, I posted an answer a couple hours ago but it seemed to vanish. If this is a repeat, please forgive me. I am not feeling too well today and I have doubled up on the meds....making my mind a little fuzzy maybe.... What I commented on was that I found information that says that elevated lipase is associated with a perferated ulcer. Now, I thought that a perforated ulcer was somewhat important to diagnose and treat so I am not sure why your son isn't being looked at more closely....but I could be wrong. But, considering his age...has he been evaluated for problems with his appendix? This is what came to mind when I read your post. Guest guest
Sandy, I've been offline for a couple days and haven't read through all the many posts to see if this was answered yet, but did want to reply to your question about enlarged spleens as a result of mononucleosis. My daughter had mono, and an enlarged spleen, when she was a freshman in high school (14 years ago). Her doctor told me at the time that her spleen would return to normal size some time after her mono cleared up. Five years later we were hit head on by a truck as I was test driving a new Jeep Grand Cherokee. was riding shotgun. The Jeep was totalled, and we were ambulanced to the local hospital where we both underwent x- rays, checking for broken bones and internal injuries. 's spleen HAD returned to normal size, her only injury was " road burn " on one leg from contact with the air bag. Wish I could say the same for myself.......lol! Perhaps there's something else going on with your son that hasn't yet been found. I hope you get to the bottom of this soon. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Sandy wrote: They only thing that came back questionable was an enlarged spleen. But I was told that was because had mono 7 years ago. But then someone else told me that it wouldn't stay enlarged all his life just because he had mono once. Do you know about that? Does anyone know about that?
