Guest guest
did you perhaps make the yogurt using canned coconut milk? canned coconut milk contains illegal additives. there were a couple of brands out there a while that looked to be additive-free, but it turns out they just weren't mentioning the emulsifiers on their ingredient list. i have not been able to find a brand of canned coconut milk that is legal. > I tried coconut yogurt for 3 days - just ate a couple of tablespoons > a day. Guest guest
, Did your son's skin worsen after the Vitamin K2? When did you stop the yogurt. Could this be die of reaction from the yogurt? The 3 month flare? A reaction to Vitamin K2? mimi > Hi! > > I hope that someone could help with some insight to what is happening > with our family on the diet now (SCD since Sept 2006). Guest guest
.... It's the Vitamin K!! I'll bet money on it! We are doing the K protocol, too..... and Katera has had a rash that started about two or three weeks after we started the K2 from Thorne. She has patches of what our pediatrician wants to call " psoriasis " in several locations on her body.... very red, peeling, weepy, irritated skin.... but also has had extremely bad bumpy bumps on the backs of both upper arms, and one shoulder. She has always had those bumps to some degree... but they got quite a bit worse for a while. She ALSO has had some really awful flakey patches on her scalp. Honestly, I do not think it's a " reaction " in the truest sense.... I feel, and Tamaro thinks this,too.... that it's a combination of her immune system kicking in and sort of going on " overdrive " due to the vitamins A & D in the CLO (we're using Green Pasture's now) and the Vitamin K beginning to cause oxalate crystals to dissolve. has suggested that possibly the oxalates start moving out via the skin. I'm not sure. You're giving CLO for the A & D? I'm just assuming you're doing the whole K protocol. I made an appointment with a dermatologist.... ironically enough, we're going later this afternoon. Thing is, since it took so long to get in with this doctor, and we had to cancel once in January because of snow and ice..... of COURSE, the rash is now beginning to clear up! I guess that's sort of like when your car is making a funny noise... but when you take it in to the mechanic, it won't make the noise?? <sigh> All the red, peely patches are fading, in the same order they appeared..... the bumps on her arms are MUCH improved in the past week, and the scaly scalp is much, much better. Anyway..... I have kept up the A, D and K.... but have held the K dosage way down to just 2 drops, twice a day (she is 10, and 76 lbs). I want to increase it very, very slowly with Katera since we are not using the VSL#3 with her.... and also because I wanted the rash to settle down. But, I did not stop it entirely.... as I am just convinced that it's not really a bad thing, just a sign of her immune system ramping up. I also think it's possible to get die-off just from coconut oil.... and probably even more so from coconut yogurt, just from the probiotics. Also, probiotics will dissolve oxalate crystals, too..... so getting some of that stuff moving out of the body, I just think for some kids, it manifests in the skin as they detox. E-mail me privately if you'd like to discuss the Vitamin K further. Patti durovchic@... family status and question Hi! I hope that someone could help with some insight to what is happening with our family on the diet now (SCD since Sept 2006). Thanks in advance! I tried coconut yogurt for 3 days - just ate a couple of tablespoons a day. I got these symptoms: flaky and itchy scalp, sad and depressed, achy joints, irritability. About 4 days before starting yogurt I started vitamin K2 from thorne. Otherwise I haven't done anything new. My daughter who is nursing got a red rash in her diaper area 2 days after yogurt intro. My son (6 years)has terribly bumpy skin now on legs, arms and back. He's had this for over a month now. What could be causing that? He also has some bad ezcema between 2 fingers on his left hand. For several months after omitting gluten and milk and then starting SCD his skin had been just fine - but now for a while it has been getting worse. His tummy is also still distended and he doesn't tolerate anything remotely sweet. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Momi! Thanks so much for responding! My son's skin did worsen after starting the K2 - he got what looked like pimples on his face which he has never had before! The bumpy skin on his legs, arms and back didn't change. His face seems to be clearing up a bit now though one week after starting k2. I didn't give him the yogurt - he refused. Just ate it myself and my daughter got some via my milk! We have been on the SCD for nearly 5 months now so I doubt it is the 3 month flare. Think it more likely a reaction to the K2. > > , > > Did your son's skin worsen after the Vitamin K2? > When did you stop the yogurt. Could this be die of reaction from the > yogurt? Guest guest
Hi Silvia! I did make the yogurt with cananed coconut milk... It was organic and I trusted it. Norway supposedly has strict laws governing labeling but I bet you are right. How do you find out whether or not there are actually illegals in it or not? Thanks for the help! > > did you perhaps make the yogurt using canned coconut milk? canned > coconut milk contains illegal additives. there were a couple of brands > out there a while that looked to be additive-free, but it turns out > they just weren't mentioning the emulsifiers on their ingredient list. > i have not been able to find a brand of canned coconut milk that is legal. > >
Guest guest
someone told me that this was the case. when i went to wildernessfamilynaturals.com, i could see that the ones without additives in the ingredients had been pulled from stock and were no longer available. maybe yours is OK...but the ones we have here all separate into the meat and liquid when they don't have emulsifiers. > Hi Silvia! > > I did make the yogurt with cananed coconut milk...
