Guest guest
Sandy, The best thing would be to take him to the doctors to get a confirmation on what it could be wrong with him. I myself am going to have to face up to fact that my daughter may have inherited a genetic condition that has been passed down through my family, and for the moment it has been making my life a misery. On top of that the guilt and worry that she may develop it also. If it is the GB acting up, then you will find the strength to deal with it for your son's sake, just as you have had the strength to deal with it for your own health's sake. They might be able to take a different avenue with your son, if this is in fact the GB, and it might be as simple as diet. If it isn't his GB, then that will be excellent news, and you can listen to what the doctor suggests it is and what he suggests your son needs to do. Until you find a reason for his pain, guessing is only going to stress you out even more because the worry of what it could be won't allow you to get past that first step towards a solution. I would want it looked at by a doctor if I were in this situation, simply to get my child's pain eased as the main priority for now.
Guest guest
could it be gas caught up under his rib cage? I know that can hurt like crazy..

Guest guest
Tricia, Hang in there, you're doing great. That was a smart move, going back to intro. Get him into the tub with epsom salts every day..... and adding a cup or so of baking soda to that tub would not hurt either. The Electrolyte Drink from Elaine's website www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info in the Knowledge Base under " E " , helps with constipation. You might have to syringe small amounts in with a medicine dropper.... as it's not the greatest tasting stuff.... but it's helpful. Keep up the good work. Patti Re: Need advice By the way our die-off reaction was terrible and my son is still very worn out so if any one has any advice pleae bring it on. He had bad die- off when I started the diet incorrectly and then a big bang of die off again with the intro. Guest guest
Patti, Thanks, I might not have gone back and restarted if it weren't for hearing on this site to do it over and over. Any way he has been getting epsom salts baths daily and cahrcoal there for a few days. We made the electrolyte drink, tasted it and thought no way will he drink that, so I gave him 1000mg of vitamin c to help get him moving and then he had a poop about 2 hours later. (Sorry for the run on sentence.) Patti, I, as a newbie appreciate you always being around to answer everyone questions. Thank you so much for all your time. Guest guest
Hi Liz, You are seeing the typical symptoms of die off. The following is happening to your son: your child has lots of gram negative bacteria. These bacteria have a shell made of LPS, a bacterial toxin. The bacteria are all dying at once so your son is getting a full dose of LPS. The good news is that your son will soon be free from these toxins and healing will happen. I strongly advise you to give him the charcoal and lots of love. I am so thrilled that you starting Caleb with SCD at such a young age!! Please hang in there....you will soon have very good results. Guest guest
Liz.... We're used to all kinds of " poop talk " around here... so always know you can go ahead and share that with us. <<The good news is there was some firmness to it (considering he has been liquid), but it was full of these yellow globs, with redish-brown *legs*. We counted at least 13 of these globs. It really freaked my husband out. Is this the die-off we keep reading about? He also has a pretty nasty diaper rash as of today.>> Well, think of it this way..... there have probably been colonies of evil gut pathogens, living in his gut, attached to the lining of his intestinal tract. As these die, there is actual " tissue " , for lack of a better term, that those pathogens are composed of..... parasites in a way.... that dies and needs to pass out of his body. That's what you're seeing. It's gross and shocking..... to imagine those were living inside him and producing their toxic waste products. Those " legs " could be some of the " roots " of the bacterial colonies.... that were holding on to the gut lining. It's impossible to know for sure, though. The good thing is..... they are OUT of his body! There may be more.... so hang in there. Keep in mind that the places inside his gut where those were attached will now have raw, sensitive, tender new tissue. So, this is one reason why you especially want to keep all foods as easy to digest as possible for some time to come, while it heals. The way he's feeling and behaving sound like die-off, too.... and is pretty typical. That will be temporary. Patti, list moderator
