Hello Everyone:

Today is my one month anniversary and I am so happy! I visited my PCP, I

have lost 30 1/2 lbs and she is also very happy with my progress. She wanted

to know everything about the surgery. I feel great just being 30 lbs

lighter. I even like me a little bit more now.

I stayed on liquids the first 2 weeks, soft foods another week and moved onto

regular foods. I seem to tolerate most foods really well. Have to watch not

to take a bite too big. That hurts, but I am adjusting. It's funny how your

taste buds change. I used to hate ff mayo and salad dressing, now it

actually tastes good to me.

I am so greateful to Dr. Rutledge for this surgery. I wish I had known about

it 3 years ago. He is a wonderful and brilliant man. So caring. He is

right on the phone when you need him to answer any questions you have. I

just cannot say enough about him. Much thanks to Barbara also who has a tough

job and remains cheerful throughout and the nurses at Durham Regional. They

too were great.

To any of the new people out there who are considering the operation, I know

it's a hard decision to make, but I am so glad I made it. After the first

few weeks you will be saying, boy that was a piece of cake (so to speak). I

would be happy to be a contact for anyone. My e-mail is psmcdonald357@...

or you can call me at if you like. Good luck and God Bless to

all the pre-ops trying to make the decision and the post-ops just watching

that weight come off.

Thanks, Pam for the inspiring post. Trude, Ruqayya, several others and I go

in this coming week to cross over. Posts like yours make me even more sure

of this decision. Stay well. Be well. Keep letting us share your joy!!
