Guest guest
, It's not unheard of to have die-off last off and on for weeks. Depends on how badly off balance the gut was to start with. Staying hydrated is definitely important. I really, REALLY strongly encourage you to have her drinking the soup broth. Make broth from big marrow bones, too (beef, et.)...... cooked many hours to allow the good minerals and bone marrow to pull into the broth. It's VERY healing. If you think juice is exacerbating things, then maybe go with just plain water, with a little fresh lemon juice sqeezed in.... a tablet of saccharin (won't feed yeast.. www.medichest.com/hermesetas-7055.html ) and maybe just a tidge of regular baking soda (just a dusting... less than 1/16th of a teaspoon for a full glass). Keep the broth flowing, though!!! I think that is most important. You could consider some natural antifungals. Homemade coconut milk might be a good thing to add at this point.... has natural antifungal effects and would be fairly gentle on the system. It's a great smoothie base... recipe on www.pecanbread.com . Start with a very small amount and see how she tolerates it. Keep us posted. Patti Help with die-off question Hi, We have been on the diet for 14 days. We have been sick mostly on more than off for the last 4 years and from IV antibiotcs for 8 months to oral antibiotics for three straight years. They finally have figured out some sort of " celiac or carbohydrate malabsorption " problem. My queston is how long the die off should last? I though I saw on here that it should last around ten days. We were VERY sick from day 3 until day 12. I am better but I had to take my daughter to the ER again today for fluids as she was unable to eat or drink and had lost around 7 pounds after already losing 5 in the 2 weeks before. After the fluids she was able to come home and eat some applesauce and even asked for very tender roast beef and green beans. She held it down fine! She is 16 and feels like the fluids helped to flush out her system a little and relieve her stomach pain. She really feels like it is still the yeast as you can hear it in her throat and she said it feels raw all the way down (burning). Does she need to worry about the juices with the yeast (only drinks diluted legal grape, we have all but cut out the honey. One Dr. told us not to do juice with yeast the other thought it ws fine. How much longer can this last? She is very fatigued, but we have seen cognitive impairment almost disappear. NOt Autistic but went to less than 1% ability to retain new information over the last 3 years. I have had to go on disability for cognitive reasons and I feel like a new person already. The " vibrating " in my head is almost gone as well as the ringing in my ears. Hypoglycemia totally gone in both of us! This diet and reading this information has saved our lives literally! We were totally unable to eat without hypoglycemic attacks every 2 hours. It was miserable. Thanks,
Guest guest
Patti, I didn't know that coconut milk had natural antifungals. When your talking about making it 'homemade' does this mean you do something w/dried coconut? I have trees in my backyard....would you suggest just drinking it from the nut directly (not that great tasting)? We use canned milk for baking but it has a preservative in it 'sodium metabisulfite' and I don't know about that. Guest guest
, I think what you're talking about, that comes out of a fresh coconut, is not really coconut milk.... that is coconut " water " . Coconut milk is made from the meat of a mature coconut. You *could* start with fresh meat if you have them available..... I'm not sure of what the directions would be. The recipe on pecanbread.com starts with shredded, unsweetened, dried coconut.... you blend it with boiling water and then strain it. I don't think anyone has found a canned coconut milk that is legal. Most canned ones have some sort of gum or stabilizer/emulsifier added, which renders them illegal. Regarding sodium metabisulfite, Wikipedia says this: << It is used as a sterilizer and antioxidant/preservative. >> <<It is used as a food additive, mainly as a preservative and is sometimes identified as E223. As an additive, it may cause allergic reactions, particularly skin irritation, gastric irritation and asthma. It is not recommended for consumption by children.>> So.... I'd have to say it should be avoided on SCD. Patti Re: Help with die-off question Patti, I didn't know that coconut milk had natural antifungals.
