Guest guest
Single spices are fine. Just not the blends (such as curry powder, cajun seasoning, Mrs. Dash, etc.). Read your labels, just to be sure it says just " cinnamon " , " ginger " , " cloves " , " nutmeg " ...... or " ground cumin " , etc. And any commercial garlic powder or onion powder is NOT legal. Any honey that is clear, filtered and labeled 100% pure honey is fine. Whatever brand name is available in your area. Read the label thoroughly to make sure it's not got anything added. Either raw honey or pasteurized honey is fine... as long as it's been filtered. I saw something on the news the other night that said the honeybee population is WAY, WAY down this year and the experts don't yet know why. This is expected to make prices go up on this year's crops of many tree fruits, almonds and other things that are pollinated by honeybees..... and I imagine the price of honey is bound to go up, too. Patti What are the rules for spices? I'm a big cook and must have 30 spices in my cupboard. Any hints on what might be legal aside from calling every manufacturer? Also-I will buy farm fresh honey this spring, but in the meantime, any SCD legal brands of honey? Thanks so much
Guest guest
what about fresh/raw parsley? is it really so different from the dried parsley in terms of digestibility? i would love to add raw parsley to our diet, as a spice. but we're only on stage 2, doing all cooked produce at this point. silvia scd 2 months, for eczema and food intolerances > Single spices are fine. Guest guest
I was wondering, is garlic SALT illegal too, or is it okay because it is mixed with salt? Could not find this info. in the book. Guest guest
Illegal.... sorry. They have to add some sort of anti-caking agent to keep it free-flowing. Usually some sort of non-disclosed starch. Patti Re: What are the rules for spices? I was wondering, is garlic SALT illegal too, or is it okay because it is mixed with salt? Guest guest
I've seen garlic salt in several so called SCD recipes. I was pretty sure it wasn't legal. Glad my instincts were right. If I wanted to make my own is it a 50/50 mixture? Anyone know? -Sharon in OH wife of Adam - Crohn's 2004, SCD since June 2006 > > Illegal.... sorry. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, > I've seen garlic salt in several so called SCD recipes. I was pretty > sure it wasn't legal. Glad my instincts were right. If I wanted to > make my own is it a 50/50 mixture? Anyone know? To make your own garlic salt it is 1 part homemade garlic powder to 3 parts salt. This mixture may cake up over time. In which case you may need to break it up occasionally to keep it free flowing.
