Guest guest
My 6 month old son got heat rash on his head last week from his DOC band. I kept his band off until my therapist said it looked ok enough to put it back on (which was about 4 days). I noticed it got redder on Friday night so have had the helmet off since then. I am kind of upset that I put the band back on when his rash was still a pink color and now it is back to red. Has anyone had experience with this and does it take almost a week to heal. I always have a fear that he will outgrow his band since he has been showing a lot of growth since he was banded 3 weeks ago. Thanks for any advice! Guest guest
My daughter used to get heat rash in her side burn areas. We used some hydrocortizone cream, but in her case it was very mild so we didn't keep the band off. A few things to consider - keep him cool while in his band. Maybe you need to dress him lighter. I found my daughter couldn't wear socks the entire time in her band - it made her sweaty. Also if you notice he is warm take the band off and wipe it and his head down to prevent it getting too sweaty. If is is hot where you live cool the car off before putting him in. (this may sound silly in winter, but I don't know if you live in a warm climate). -christine sydney, 5 yrs, starband grad > > My 6 month old son got heat rash on his head last week from his DOC band. Guest guest
My son just had a heat rash on his side burn area. If he sweats a little it seems to help him from getting the rash, but if he is cool all day with no sweating the helemt seems to rub so I think that is what caused ours...I put triple antibiotic cream on and within a day it was gone. Hope your daughter gets better. 7month son 1 wk 2 dys > > > > My 6 month old son got heat rash on his head last week from his DOC band.
