Guest guest
LOL Anita: Once you hit the two month mark, it's just like it was before surgery. Grab a bite and run. No, you don't eat all the time. But I find that I am hungry about every two hours or so. But only a few bites. I did carry one of those small fabric coolers with me in the beginning and I kept yogurt in it. That was just in case I got hungry when I went somewhere and couldn't get to a place to find something I could eat. Now I don't even think about it. I can find something to eat anywhere I go. Even fast food has food that I can eat. I find I spend MUCH less time eating now that I did before surgery. You won't be on a diet. After your second month, you can have anything you want whenever you want it. I have never dumped and I have never vomited. There are no foods that I can't eat. I do find juice makes me feel yuck so I drink either 1/2 lemonad and 1/2 water or I drink just water. I always hated water and now I'm really a water fan. In the beginning you do have to chew a lot. But because your quantity is limited, you spend much less time eating and preparing than you did before...trust me...food is not the big thing in your life once you get through the initial month or two. I'm answering each of your questions below. This applies to how I found it to be..everyone is different. > QUESTIONS:: Will I be eating alllllll the time in order to stay healthy?? No. You will eat when you want..when you are hungry. We take vitamins and supplements which supplement the food to keep us healthy. > What happens if I am unable to eat at regular times? Not a problem. I zip through a drive in of fast food and get a chicken sandwich or I get a salad and nibble on it. I keep a zip lock bag of pretzels in my purse. Or I run into 7-11 for pretzels or something to tide me over. You aren't eating all the time. You will want to nibble in between meals though. How much time do I > really need to sit down and eat a meal? Less time than now. You are chewing more but eating so much less that you'll spend way less time eating now. I won't tell you an hour. I've never sat an hour to eat. I drink a shake in the am if I am rushed. In the beginning I grabbed a can of Ensure or mixed up an Instant Breakfast and drank it on the run. I kept a water bottle with me and sipped. For lunch in the beginning I had a cup of soup but of course couldn't drink the whole thing. We talk a lot on here about the small things because in the beginning the small things are very important to us. But at 5 months out I just do whatever..I don't even think about it anymore. If anyone is going out for dinner..I go. I just order differently but still enjoy my food as much. I eat less but feel far more satisfied when I'm finished. Best wishes to you. With 6 children you have a busy life! Having surgery will ensure that you will live longer and live better and thus be able to keep up the hectic pace. Guest guest
Anita, I'm a post op now, and yes, you will have to take some time for yourself.. just you!! Aint that just awful?? Not as much as you think though, I'm eating about every 2 hours, but I only have a bite or two of food. Yes, I chew much slower than I use to, but I'm having some trouble eating slow enough. You're like me, always doing for someone else, especially family members.. Honey this is something for you!!! So that you can do even more, and feel healthy doing it, for everyone else. When you feel good, you'llhave more time, honest. Good luck, don't back out!! Trudy MGB 11-3-00 How busy is too busy. Hi Ya'Alll, I have been really working on my research. As far as I could tell anyone would be nuts not to have this surgery. So I guess I am a nut too. I am hoping that I can get a early January date. I am a busy mom of six and don't have time to wait for anything. I keep thinking about the time to take for your meals (post-op of course) All the chewying to make it all mushy and then sipping slowly and eating even slower..... That seems like tones of time. I seem to always be needing to go somewhere in the next half-hour. pick up kids, dr appt, dentist appt, drop off kids, go to the bank, check on my clients, go to store,,, ETC. it never ends.... I really want to have this surgery. I am a little afraid that I will not have time to eat the little bit that I am supposed to eat. QUESTIONS:: Will I be eating alllllll the time in order to stay healthy?? What happens if I am unable to eat at regular times? How much time do I really need to sit down and eat a meal? Please don't tell me an hour... if that is soo I will only get to eat once a day... that can't be healthy. Thanks for your input. Hugs to all. Also tired of being heavy.
