Guest guest
Marilyn, I'm so sorry about your hearing. Have you been to an ENT? Had a hearing test done to see where the damage is? If not my friend, get there now. I know Pete Gorman had a lot of hearing problems. I think Janet might be able to answer a lot of questions. I will post her privately and see if see will help. Maybe we can get her back an involved if she feels like she can. She is sooo wondeful and so full of knowledge. I will let you know. But in the mean time, you need to know where the damage is being done and what is the cause. hugs Have a question for the group. My hearing has gotten so bad in my left ear that I can not even hear a phone ring anymore. Will hearing aids help with the deafness related to RP? Guest guest
Thanks, , and Heidi for the input on hearing aids. I did see the ENT about 3 years ago and he had recommended a hearing aid in the left ear at that time. This was before I was dx with RP, but was suffering very bad from the disease. At that time I was taking pred. only, and hadn't seen the rheumatologist to get on the metho. Since then, I have not been back to the ENT and my hearing is about the same now as it was back then, not very good. It's only my left ear that is bad and that's the ear that I always get a flare on and in. The ENT here did lots of tests, sinuses were bad at that time and I was having throat problems. His tests all came back inconclusive and I didn't go back because he had no idea what was going on with me. He's kind of a nitwit anyway. I will ask my rheumatologist to recommend somebody else when I see him in January. Thanks again for all the help. I do know that Rush Limbaugh was practically deaf from some type of auto immune disease and was told that hearing aids would not help him so he had cocular implants and that has restored his hearing to nearly normal. Love and hugs, Marilyn
