Guest guest
Thank you, Everyone! It seemed surreal at first but we're acclimating to the idea. Mostly, we're both excitedly looking forward to the changes, challenges and growth that this brings to us. It's said that life begins afer 40. Well, I kept waiting, wondering who the heck made up such a half-stupid saying. If you're a typical 40-year old woman, you're going through hormonal flucuations and you have teens (who are going through their own hormonal fluctuations!). After my divorce (at age 40), I was happier; I didn't feel alone or lonely... actually, I was more settled into myself, less stressed, and felt I was now able to move more toward the person I was meant to be. But as I came into my 45th year, I began to feel like a missing half, and sometimes there were thoughts of how nice it would be to have someone special to come home to. But I stayed so busy that I rarely dwelled on these feelings, and anyway, I was much too cautious to put myself into dating situations. But deep-down, I hoped that someday before I was shuffling around with a walker and putting in dentures before gumming my morning Cream of Wheat that I'd be fortunate enough to find someone special to share my life. I always knew that it's a privilege to be allowed to share someone's life -- how incredible it is to witness their personal growth, nurture and support their dreams and goals and achievements. I know so many of you are single parents... or married but struggling in a relationship and thinking of becoming single. I've been through that too, though my kids were lolder -- 18 and 14 when I divorced six years ago. Life goes on. And if you hold up your head with grace and determination, learn your lessons well, there are rewards. And always pay attention to syncronicity. Those syncronistic moments are signs that you're on the right path. I'm lucky that someone found me... though neither of us were even looking for love when fate intervened. But because I'm very cautious, and the Universe knows it, the Universe had to amplify the syncronistic signs so we'd know this was meant to be! I've temporarily posted a photo of my sweetie and me in the photos section. We haven't set a date yet, but as this is not a first marriage for either of us it's not going to be a big thing. Ideally we'd like our children present but since we're all spread out I'm not sure how that will play out. But I have a feeling I'll be around here for a while... Until the grandbabies start coming! Guest guest
Kim, What a lovely photo! You make such a nice couple. Arizona is such a beautiful state; it's breathtaking in parts. One of the good things about AZ is that you have all sorts of climates. Yes, Phoenix is in the valley and can be incredibly hot, but you can go north to Sedona or the Grand Canyon and be cool. I like states with " variety " in their climate. However, I'm a New Englander and love it. I always said that IF I were to move (and I probably never will because I love CT) I'd likely choose Arizona for its beauty. All the best to you. Guest guest
Bev, you already know what I look like! But here's the link to the photos section http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/cfparents/lst Scroll to the bottom of that page and click " show all, " then you'll be able to see everyone's photos at a glance. You can click on each photo to enlarge it for better viewing. took the photo of us last October. He was taking promo pics of Dorsey so I could create a brochure to use for booking engagements (he's a banker and musician). We were standing under a willow tree on the beach. That's what I'll miss most when I move... Right now, I can walk out my front door, walk across the street to a park and lovely beach right on Lake Michigan. However, there's a wonderful trade-off, I'll be under big skies again! I'll be able to look up and see the stars at night just like back home in Oklahoma. You can't do that in Chicago because of all the city lights, and if I want to see the moon, I have to dodge the high-rise buildings... though, it's amazing watching the full moon rise at night over Lake Michigan. (p.s., tell Lois I said hi!) Love, Kim > > I second that, CONGRATULATIONS Kim!! Phoenix is beautiful in the > > spring, I'm sure you'll love it.
