It is up to the individual to make their own inquiries. I suggest you phone or email them to request the letter. http://www.traderjoes.com/contact_us.html Carol F. Guest guest
They need to be willing to give you written assurance that nothing else but what is labeled is EVER added to their product. Guest guest
I must say I have been really impressed by TJ's in their responsible " behavior " when it comes to disclosing ingredients over the phone. In the past, they have readily admitted that their " raw " honey was heated at a low heat to make it more pourable and that one of their products that did not appear to have gluten (based on the label) was not 100% gluten-free, etc. This is one company that I find knowledgable and reliable over the phone. I have a list of TJs products that I am investigating as to whether or not they are okay for SCD. I will post if I am able to get written confirmation, but I wonder this -- what if I get written confirmation and then 6 months later, they change their processing of the juice? It's not like they are going to send a second letter informing me of the new additive. Does someone in this group request repeated written confirmation of the products listed as legal on the website? - Patti wrote: They need to be willing to give you written assurance that nothing else but what is labeled is EVER added to their product. Guest guest
Well, that's part of the problem. They are not obligated, nor will they inform you if they change a recipe formulation. If you read BTVC you would have found that is exactly what Elaine warned about. I found one and only one product that I ever got a letter for,an Ontario Organic Tomato Juice,Utopia by ville, and brought some to Elaine along with the letter. Carol F. Guest guest
Hi , Where we stand right now is that we can't proclaim any new products to be " officially " SCD legal. We don't have that authority now that Elaine is gone. That leaves us with just the ones that have been already declared legal when she was here. Then, if individuals want to get written confirmation on some product for their own use, they can do that.... for themselves. We can't then have you post that and add that to our " legal " list or something. As for companies changing hands, changing policies, changing recipes, changing buyers, etc.... yeah. It can happen, and they don't have to notify you first.... in fact, almost certainly would not. We had this happen YEARS ago with Shelton's hot dogs. Suddenly, they had potato starch in them...... without warning, suddenly NOT OKAY! It was an important lesson. I'm sure Trader Joe's is a fine company. I buy things there all the time. We won't be able to include them on any official SCD legal list, though.... no matter what. Sorry. Guest guest
I guess you would need to obtain letters from ALL companies to determine that ingredients haven't changed, including folks who sell products touted as SCD. Welch's, Dole Pineapple, All honey companies, etc. It seems like it would be an arduous task indeed.

Would you like to volunteer? There are only a few companies involved. Knudson, Kedem (who never replies),Tropicana, s, Welch's, Heinz and Dole (who does reply) Ypou can Google them for their email addresses or toll free phone numbers. Sorry, although I contact companies from time to time, I am unable to do this right now. Carol F. SCD 7 years, celiac

I found 80% of the " SCD Legal " products in one location were only for people who were extremely advanced or totally healed. The only way around it was to post a disclaimer on our website as Elaine did in BTVC. That company wanted US to edit their website. They are sincere in wanting to comply. If they know their SCD as well as they claim to, hopefully they will get it sorted out as they promised, but so far have not made any changes. Carol F. Guest guest
> I had hoped by providing a template for a letter to companies, it would be easy for people to get their own validation. All one needs to do is fill in the blanks: 1. Name of the company 2. Name of the product 3. Signature Carol F. SCD 7 years, celiac
