Guest guest
For diaper rash try Triple Paste. You do not need a prescription you do however, need to order it through the pharmacy. This is the BEST cream I have ever used! I have gone through tubes, and tubes of store bought stuff I ordered one jar of triple paste and I still have it! It works really well. Guest guest
For the 'raw butt', try a silicone Barrier Cream (available over the counter at pharmacies). It creates a waterproof barrier for the skin that helps keep liquid stool away from it and from irritating it. M anything to give toddler to CAUSE constipation? .... Guest guest
We had to start adding fiber to our daughters formula. She gets 1 tsp benefiber, twice a day, and we have noticed a HUGE difference in her stools. She now has " normal " looking poop, where as before, it was like her diaper exploded, it was everywhere, like water. We did have to adjust her enzymes some too, but the fiber has helped a lot. I can tell when we have forgotten to give it to her. Katy Mom to Austin 4 no CF & Piper 19 months w/CF
Guest guest
Cut out the immodium; that is for diarrhea; call his doctor and ask for Lactulose in any form or whatever else she or he may recommend; you may be looking at Intestinal Blockage--from one who has only recently been there--poor kid! Guest guest
I think that if constipation is or Intestinal Blockage is the issue, barrier cream will help his deriere, but Immodium is contra-indicated as that is for diarrhea, and medical help is needed--sure was with our kid wcf and often is with me-- n, the most over-conscientous parent on the planet anything to give toddler to CAUSE constipation? ... Guest guest
Hi , I'm confused. You said he " ...has had constipation for 6 weeks... " but then you called his stools " liquid stuff. " Did you mean that he constipated until you started him on the Augmentin? Costipation is an indication of magnesium deficiency (which is common in people exclusively tube-fed). Also, since he's on antibiotics, this will further deplete magnesium. On the other hand, if he was constipated, it's likely Augmentin caused his bowel movements to change FROM constipation TO diarrhea because the normal, healthy intestinal flora was destroyed along with bad bacteria. He will benefit by a good, enteric-coated probiotic. You should be able to put a probiotic through the feeding tube. Natrol makes a new nifty probiotic " bead. " You take one a day and it's the size of a teeny ball, even an infact should be able to get it down. I found it at GNC (though remember, it's made by Natrol, not GNC). It cost around $14, I think. But I bought it during GNC's first- of-the-month Gold Card days, so I got the discount. Instinct tells me to hesitate putting a heavy barrier on the irritated skin until first you clear it up, otherwise you'd be sealing possible staph bacteria close to the skin, just prolonging problems. But once you clear up the skin and it dries, this sounds like a option until he's off antibiotics and stools are normal again. Years ago when my son got a painful, raw rash after a couple courses of antibiotics, his ped prescribed a silvadine ointment that is used for severe burn cases. It worked really well and prevented scarring. Also, supplementing with magnesium will raise the pH so his body isn't so acidic, which only makes things burn more. While he's having diarrhea, he's losing magnesium, along with it being depleted by the antibiotics. Oh, and lavender essential oil is very soothing, a good anti- inflammatory. You might want to put some into his bath tub to soothe the skin, and add just a couple drops tea tree oil to prevent infection of the raw skin. The vapors of the essential oils that he inhales while in the tub will be a very nice bonus for clearing his lungs and sinuses. Guest guest
, im sorry to hear about Ashton being so constapated, in jan had x-rays of his colon because he had been complaining that " it was stuck " and really straining when pooping, the xray showed his colon was full of stool, dr rx'ed mirolax, it was mixed in 8 oz of fluid. we started to feed him prunes and raisens too and that worked for us but since Ashton has the g-tube, prune juice?? the mirolax worked great within 2 days he was cleaned out and pooping normal without the pain and strain. good luck! amy mom to nathan almost 3 with cf anything to give toddler to CAUSE constipation? Guest guest
Hi, You've gotten some great advice about adding fiber to formula and the the butt creams. Just thought I'd add that in my experience, whenever either of my kids were on antibiotics, diarreah and diaper rash were a given. I'm not sure simply adding fiber would help with the " antibiotic runs. " But, it's a start. You could also add a probiotic like acidophilus or lactobacillus gg. Just make sure you don't give it at the same time or close to giving the antibiotics. Wait a couple of hours after giving the antibiotics to give the probiotics. Also, start with the recommended dose, but if the diarreah doesn't at least ease up, give a little more the next day. Antibiotics do a real number on the good flora in the intestinal tract. Good luck, C Mommy to Mick and Alli, 4 yo twins wcf > anything to give toddler to > CAUSE constipation? > > > ...
