Guest guest
Walt, sorry this is so late because I've been offline during the holidays and just go back online late this week and am catching up on my backlog of emails. I wanted to answer this because I has a similar original denial. Evidently, a lot of doctor's offices just throw away the request for records for social security. I had to actively contact my doctor's office and make sure that they got the request and that the records were sent and then that social security received them by calling all of the above several times a week. The other option is to obtain the records yourself and then forwarding them to social security. Also, make sure that the doctor fills out the forms that social security sends to your doctors. Call the doctor to make sure they filled out the forms. I know this is a lot of work on your part, but it can help you to actually get your disability. Also, don't just take the initial denial and then do nothing. Immediately file an appeal. And if that's denied, request an ALJ Judicial Hearing. About 95% of all disability applications are denied and about 90% of all appeals are denied. About 60% of all ALJ hearing overturn the denials. And of course, all this takes lots of time. You also might want to look into getting a lawyer to help you. Most disability lawyers do the work and only get paid if you are awarded disablity and even then, they are restricted in the amount they are allowed to take out of the backpay you are awarded if you are approved for diasability. Hope this is of some help to you. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Note: All advice given is personal opinion, not equal to that of a licensed physician or health care professional.
