I use a wide pot and put the stove on low. I use the stove timer and set it so that it beeps every 10 or 15 minutes reminding me to check the milk. I get the milk to 180 or so then let it cool down. Again I use the stove timer to remind me to check the milk as it cools. I only use one packet of starter, but mine comes in pairs too. I use my kitchen scissors and seperate the packets. I have made the yogurt with full fat milk and fat free milk. It is creamier with full fat and really firm and tart with the fat free milk. I just started SCD in November, so be sure to take the advice from the experienced folk but my yogurt does come out OK and I have burnt my milk once but that was before I used the timer. They were very sympathetic and worked hard to develop a starter for SCD autism. Cellulose in meds is actually legal, but as a celiac I can't tolerate it well. Our local goat yogurt had Bifidus, a cultural strain that is illegal so I have always used cow ypgurt as a starter Astro Balkan Style Natural Yogurt in Ontario, Canada). Carol F. Guest guest
Yes.... the Yogourmet starter works with either cow or goat milk. Patti Yogurt Question Dear List, Has anyone ever used the yogourment yogurt starter with goats milk to make yogurt. Will it work? My kids have a problem with cellulose in the progurt starter. Has anyone in Ontario found some goats yogurt without bifidus? Thanks, Cathy
Guest guest
People don't always have a continusous supply of yogurt ongoing. There can sometimes be a gap of a few days if one fails to make it. In such a situation do you start again with a small amount or just eat as large a portion as you had a fewdays previous? Carol F.
