Guest guest
I have also looked into alternative treatments.....as soon as I read what they did in NCR treatments, I closed the web page and have never looked back. Obviously it is your choice, but I cannot imagine any mis-shaped head being worth that. We did CST and that helped, but it was prior to the helmet. We had 1 eye almost completely closed, and after treatments they were even. I believe even though others do not that my treatments with the chiropractor have help more than the CST and 9.5 months of therapy put together did. We had a 5 - 8 degree lingering tilt that in 4 weeks of 1 visit per week was resolved by the chiropractor. I do not have to add how much cheaper it was. I wish I would have went the chiropractor route before PT. At the chiropractor my daughter is not stressed, there is no streaching, no fighting, no crying, in and out in 20 minutes and she is happy and laughing.... again everyone has thier opinion, I am just sharing what has worked for us. Re: NCR costs Hi Kim,I have to say that in the 4.5 yrs I've been in this group I have heard very little about NCR (neurocranial restructuring), and what I have heard makes me uncomfortable. From what I understand it is basically a practitioner putting a special balloon up the nose and inflating it briefly to fix a very wide range of problems. I am also skeptical of CST, but it seems harmless. To me NCR does not seem harmless. I know you didn't ask for my comments, but I imagine after posting your message, there will be lots of questions regarding "what is NCR", so I'm trying to fend them off. I don't have any idea how much it costs. I am surprised that you think your daughter's ears have gotten worse in a helmet. Have you discussed the ears with your ortho? I've heard some orthos say they can't fix ears, but from what I've read here they generally stay the same, or improve while in a helmet band.-christinesydney, almost 5 yrs, starband grad>> Can anyone tell me how much the NCR(?) work ups cost and how often you must do > them? Guest guest
Ok... i heard of balloons.. had no idea how they were used... something to think about. I will need to find some good links on this and CST. Yes, I asked the ortho and he said he can't fix ears most likely at her age. I also wonder if her ears would stick out less if she had the chance to lay on them during this crucial time period and since she has the helmet she can't. Or that just may be her ears.I also feel the added padding has made a ridge on the back of her head that wasn't there before. Her head also seems taller to me.. maybe that's how it's suppose to be. It's definatly changed. I'm not saying for the worse... I can tell it's rounder now. It depends on the angle. Her left ear is obviously lower and closer to her face unfortunatly. From: christineashok <christineashok@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Tue, December 14, 2010 5:52:34 AMSubject: Re: NCR costs Hi Kim, I have to say that in the 4.5 yrs I've been in this group I have heard very little about NCR (neurocranial restructuring), and what I have heard makes me uncomfortable. Guest guest
Hi, My husband tried taping 's ears for a couple months while in the helmet with some product. It may have been something like Ear Buddies, but the exact name should be in the email archives. was around 18 months. We decided the taping wasn't working though and stopped. -Kathy On 12/14/2010 2:43 PM, critter lover wrote:  Ok... i heard of balloons.. had no idea how they were used... something to think about. Guest guest
I used the following website to locate pediatric chiropractors in my area. http://icpa4kids.com/index.php I googled them to see what information I could find. I can tell you that I had a free consult with 3 chiropractors before I found the one I went to. The do not "adjust" children in the sense that we know in our brains like "cracking" thier bones. They took x-rays, and you can clearly see how her neck twists and leans to the side of her tilt. They use a vibrating tool that looks like a glue gun. They hold it up to different parts of her neck and they squeeze the trigger making it vibrate. Slowly aligning the bones in her neck back, and the muscles have followed. Camille usually giggles as it feels funny. There is no pain involved and we arrive and leave happy. I went to a chiropractor on my own, no one sent me or suggested it. When we were released from therapy the second time with an 8 degree lingering tilt and no prosept of further treatment because they say she is "within normal range" I had to take matters into my own hands. Looking at her tilt that has been present since birth one would think that since it has been that way for 11 months it would have to do something to her neck. I am not a doctor ar anything like that, I was just thinking with logic. If I held my head like that it would surely hurt my neck. All the doctors tell you to stretch the muscle, but that only got us so far. Muscle is attached to bone, so I thought taking her could not hurt, and it turns out I was right. As the bones in her neck line back up properly, the muscle has followed. It was not instant, and we are not done. I am choosing to continue taking her once a week at least until her helmet comes off on January 14th 2011. I would be more than happy to share pictures with you of her progress as I took photos to make sure I was seeing an improvement.
