Guest guest
, We use Ovaltine instead of Carnation, and you can add a little powdered milk, too, to boost calories a little. Some people say to add cream, but my kid with cf just won't drink it with cream added, although it would boost the fat and calories a good bit. If you give him a BIG cup of this mix right before bed each night, you might get good results. Don't give supplemental drinks before or during a meal, because it fills them up and they will end up not eating. Also, if you give it right before bed, he won't have a chance to run off the extra calories. If he isn't used to having a big cup of drink, try putting a straw in it (more fun) or put it in a big cup with a sippy-lid. Kids seem to drain a drink quicker if it's in an interesting container. Good luck, ~ > just curious if anyone used the scandishakes... r they usually > covered by insurance or is it a out of poket expense.. they told me > at clinic to use the carnation instant breakfast but thats gonna get > expensive.. looking for a cheaper alternative. also any other > suggestions you may have for a picky 2 yr old that just lost a > pound .... thank you for your time. > > melissa 24 no cf > dylan 5 no cf > caleb 2 1/2 cf... and wont take enzymes.. thats a whole other story. Guest guest
hates the scandishakes She likes some of the carnation instant breakfasts but she really prefers the Ovaltine. We add the powdered milk and cream too. you can also add DuoCal. it is a tasteless powder that mixes pretty well with liquids. I also add it to soup (after cooking) and salad dressings, puddings............ hope this helps Re: scandishakes , We use Ovaltine instead of Carnation, and you can add a little powdered milk, too, to boost calories a little. Guest guest
I have seven boxes of Scandishake that are up for grabs. I have some chocolate and some vanilla but I could not tell you right now how many boxes of each that I have. The only thing that I ask is that you pay shipping in advance since that can get to be expensive. I think it cost me about $9.50 for two boxes parcel post last time. Let me know if you are interested. Peggy mom of Jonah and 5yrs twins wcf
