Guest guest
Digestive enzymes are not part of the SCD protocol. You can use them if you want to.... it's an individual decision. For the best information about enzymes, check out the website: www.enzymestuff.com . If you use one, you will just need to make sure it does not contain any added ingredients that are illegal on SCD. Patti Digestive enzymes - when is it necessary on SCD ? Hi ! When do one knows that one has problems with the amount and types of digestive enzymes and therefore should add some supplement to the SCD ? How is this in fact tested in a 9,5 year old boy ? Guest guest
Hi Patti, maybe I did not make my question so clear ! I mean, is it possible to test the stool or .... in order to compare with some sort of " normal " values and this way around one could maybe get an idea IF it was worth the effort to try to add some of the legal digestive enzymes that could be low in the result. My point is this: IF the Pancreas is not working 100 % the way it is suppose to do in a childs body, then one CAN have big problems in gaining full results of the SCD no matter how long you stick to it and follow ALL the guidelines as one should ...! The Pancreas can have a lot of hidden injuries inside as a result of heavy medication like AED(eg. Valproate Acid) and so it will not do the job 100 % as it was intended from the begining. And as a result of this, it will eventually have problems producing some of the essential/ main digestive enzymes and also - if it gets really bad - decrease the insulin production in the body.... ( So one could in fact be witnessing another " Vicious Circle " in this respect if there is a hidden problem with the Pancreas. Best regards /// Allan > > Digestive enzymes are not part of the SCD protocol. You can use them if you want to.... it's an individual decision.
