Guest guest
Many babies in docbands get a bump of fluid build up in the area where the band is open. Not sure if that is what you are describing, but this may look like a " dent " behind the bump?. I have read about it in this group, and it goes away once the band is off. My daughter had a starband, so it didn't have a gap where the velcro was. -christine sydney, 4.5 yrs, starband grad > > Hi Group. My son is 7 1/2 months old and he has been wearing his band for 2 1/2 weeks now. Everything has been going great in that he doesn't mind the band at all and we have already noticed quite a bit of difference in his head shape. Tonight however, when i was removing the helmet for his one hour off I noticed a dent above his ear under the velcro strap where the band has the small gap. I am worried since it feels like the head is growing into that opening since there is no pressure there to hold it back. I know they say growth starts to slow after 6 months but I think he is still growing pretty quickly and experiencing the crazy growth spurts. Is it possible that he had another growth spurt this past week and the head grew into all of the places where there is no pressure including the opening under the velcro strap? I am worried about this becoming a permanent issue since it feels like actual bone growth. I'm not sure if its more of a dent in the tissue behind the bone or if the bone actually grew outward. If it stays like it looked tonight I would have preferred the mis-shaped head over a dent from his ear upward. And murphy's law I would notice this on a friday night before a 3 day weekend so no one is at cranial technologies for me to call. I searched the website for an after hours or emergency line but didn't see anything. I am hoping someone has experienced this similar thing ansd can put my mind to rest that it is ok We go back in tuesday morning anyway for a fitting but it scares me to have him wear the helmet for the next 3 days not knowing if i am doing additional damage. I did put it back on tonight after his hour just to continue following treatment procedures but I'd love to hear back from anyone who has any thoughts on this so I knwo what to do tomm! > > Thanks so much!! > > Wendi >
