Guest guest
Is she on any enzymes or probiotics? If so, you could possibly increase those a bit for a short time. Just a thought, Charlene My daughter had some bad acid reflex last night and woke up this morning pretty nasty. She reacted to tropicana orange juice sunday I think this just set things off.She has dealt with acid reflex for most of her life prior to SCD. Does anyone know of any natural remedies I can use...I really don't want to use zantac, I think her stomach has been upset since sunday....I should of seen it coming but I missed it again...that is why she ate so much roast beef last night...she wants to eat when she hurts. She still has some acid reflex this morning...even while sitting up. I really don't want to mess up the balance of her stomach with Zantac, but I don't want this acid in her lungs. she is not doing badly now but one more night lying down ......... thanks, Cathy Mom to , Celiac, SCD Aug 2006
Guest guest
Charlene, She is just taking 1/2 caspule of scdophilus twice a day( 6 weeks now). It took a long time for her to tolerate this amount. More probiotic might make it worse. thanks, CAthy > > Is she on any enzymes or probiotics? Guest guest
Hi Cathy, << My daughter had some bad acid reflex last night and woke up this > morning pretty nasty. Does anyone know of any natural remedies I can use >> How about these ideas from our 'old Elaines children List/Lyris file': #1. " Would a little baking soda in water help? That is what I give my son. It would help with acid and reflux. I put just about 1/8 and maybe up to 1/4 teaspoon. Not much. D. " #2. " Visceral manipulation, for which we go to a chiropractor. Look on the website www.iahp.com to find someone in your area who does this. The chiropractor says that if there is tension or pull in the thorax area, the esophageal valve might be closing too far down into the stomach, causing acid to back up into the valve. The physical technique of visceral manipulation can help relieve the tension, causing the valve to relax. This website also lists people who do cranio-sacral therapy. " #3. " That is what stopped it earlier - water, as you and Sherry = suggested. My son's GI doctor just called and did think it sounded like = reflux. So that would concur with your observation. And the alkaline = items like pineapple juice might help. Teri " Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23 yrs mom of E and D
