Guest guest
I posted earlier about this, but it never showed up for all to read, so i am posting again- apologies if they both end up showing up. G has had two " runny mashed potato " poohs today, now he has a fever- 101. He's been a little stuffed up for about a week now- nothing major- he can breath without having to blow his nose. My sitter and I are trying to decifer if this is a bug. We started SCD Nov 17th and re-did intro Jan 2nd. So I am assuming our 3 month " die off " shouldn't be until around Feb 17th (I know they aren't exact). How do I know if this is another round of die- off or something else? What do I do if his temp does get high. I have nothing to help get it back down since we can't do our typical Motrin. Thanks for any help becky 3yold son ASD
Guest guest
This *could* be die-off... although at this time of year, it's very likely to be a virus. Who knows? It could be BOTH at the same time. Fever with die-off probably wouldn't go very high, though. If you really need to reduce his fever (I wouldn't, unless it goes above 102 or so.... fever needs a chance to do it's job, buring out the virus... if that's what it is), you could give adult Motrin tablets, ground up and mixed in applesauce or honey or something like that. The only trick is to hopefully be able to figure out the dosage in milligrams and have that work out for his weight. Motrin is also available in " Junior " tablets.... so the dosage may match up better. There is still some starch in the adult or junior versions.... but as a once in a while thing, as needed for illness or pain, it's okay to do that. My daughter is 10 and still can't swallow tablets or capsules, so I'm used to grinding pills up. It will not taste very good, so just try to mix it into as small an amount of whatever the medium is, so he won't have to take too many spoonfuls to get it all down.... then have a " chaser " of something to follow it up and get the yucky taste out of his mouth.
