Guest guest
Jude: You might want to forward this to the post-op list as well to get more info. I have been regular with no problems at all. However, the manual does state that some of us might experience 3..2, emergency trips to the bathroom, etc., for a few weeks. I think what you are experiencing is a normal effect after surgery. Just buy stock in the air freshener!!!! LOL Christy / CA
Guest guest
Ms Jude, You just did a fine job of describing my bathroom habits for the first month or two after surgery. However, at 3 months post op, I am pretty regular now. Regular for me is once before bed and for some weird reason two times before I leave for the office in the morning. I went through the same problem of sitting FOREVER on the throne in the morning. I learned to keep the novel I was reading within reach. It was usually a pretty long visit and I did not want to get bored lololol. Now I just break it up into two visits lol. And yes....the smell is disgusting! I read, it is cause by our inability to digest starches. And the oily characteristic that mentioned, comes from us not being able to digest fats. I noticed a lot of oil right after I began eating solid foods but as I progress and I am eating less and less fatty foods, I see very little oil now. Thank goodness I am not craving or liking fatty foods now..... believe me, that oily " crap " is horrendous! If any of you have taken Xenical, it is the exact same effect. In closing I would just like to say......I never in my life thought I would be discussing my bathroom habits in a public forum like this! I must love you guys! Guest guest
Jackie, I am starting to hear back from others, some privately, some on the site, and what I'm hearing is that my situation is within the realm of normal, but close to the edge.. It's supposed to get better within the next couple weeks. I would love an Imodium though! I am still going to ask Dr. R what he thinks and if I could either skip a dose of Citrucel or take an Imodium or something. Or whether I just must stay " regal " . (on the throne) If regal, well, Y'all will have to refer to me as Queen Jude, I guess!!! Good thing I weigh so much. If I were thin, I'd be floating like the Hindenberg!!! Sheesh. Ain't we got fun? Guest guest
--- I don't post very often but Margaret (we work together)just read your post and told me to read it. That is the funniest thing I've heard in a long time!!! I can't wait to experience ALL of these things. I say anyone who is offended by " THE GAS " if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!!! We worked hard to get to this point and if they can't take the smell....too bad!!!! LOL!!! Men do it all the time, in public, around people and no one ever says anything!! Now it's our turn, lets blast em back!! Judyh1022@... wrote: > I know, not the most pleasant topic. Guest guest
Judy You have described my life - and I am still pre-op!! I spend hours every day in the bathroom. Many days I don't even make it to work - have to stop at QuikTrip halfway here. It is not fun and I only hope and pray it doesn't get any worse post-op. You have to plan your whole life around those bathroom trips. I know every public bathroom at every mall, every store. I know which ones don't allow you to use theirs . I am on a lot of medications which will change after surgery. I think a lot of my problems are those medicines, so if I don't take them anymore I should be better off. Guest guest
Judy, I have been a silent observer of the site. Your problem interests me. I had my gallbadder removed a few years ago and it changed my life. I take ammodium everyday, sometimes more than once (depents on what and where I am going to be). I also have frequent urination problems that the doctor put me on Detrol for. The side effect of Detrol is constipation. That slowed me down to 3-4 times a day, this is great. This is my major concern with the surgery. I am afraid of tampering with my digestive system. I would really like to know how the surgery effected you. Is it the meds causing your problem? -jackie in NC Re: Bowel Habits > Judy > You have described my life - and I am still pre-op!! > I spend hours every day in the bathroom. Guest guest
PJ, I am so glad you posted this nasty subject. I am 6 weeks post and my bowels are a MESS. My hubby says he wishes we had a hot air balloon because i could fuel it with air several times a day. In K-Marts this morning, I had to run out to the parking lot twice to expel. Then to the bathroom once. At church I had to sneak out during the offering sunday to expel noisily. I was dark green up until 2-3 days ago. Now I am yellow unformed. Ugh. My belly rumbles all the time. I have a very poor sense of smell, but hubby just says I am extremely lucky right now and he wished he had a very poor sense of smell also.
