Guest guest
> > If anyone knows the answer, this is probably the place to ask. Does anyone know how to get rid of group B strep? I'm possitive, and I don't want to have to have antibiotics during labor. If I can get rid of it(get a negative reading), then I won't be required to have the antibiotics during labor. If anyone knows how to get rid of it, please let me know. > Meleah I googled it but feeel this is a matter for a ohysician and not for casual advice from the list. http://www.dhpe.org/infect/strepb.html Carol F. Guest guest
Thanks for the link. I know all about the antibiotics to protect the baby because I've had them for two out of my three children. I was hoping that there is some known alternative to kill the bacteria aside from antibiotics. Thanks for trying. Guest guest
Talk to a midwife. Some use a doushing protocol with GSE for 10-14 days, followed by probiotic suppository. Then you need to retest for strep B. - robin wrote: Thanks for the link. I know all about the antibiotics to protect the baby because I've had them for two out of my three children. Guest guest
Thanks. I know several midwives that deliver either at home or at the hospital. I will start calling around. Thanks. Guest guest
Well great. That stinks. I figured I could get rid of it. Actually, I do know that some women test possitive during one pregnancy, and negative in a later pregnancy. However, my OB says that he uses antibiotics even if you test negative if you've tested possitive before because he's seen cases reported where the mother was negative, but the baby ended up with an infection. I don't think it has ever happened to him. Guest guest
yeah... it does stink. unfortunately, the antibiotics are extremely important to take during the delivery for the baby's sake. the only thing i would suggest is perhaps giving probiotics to the baby as soon as possible. i'm not sure when that is safe as i know that babies are born with sterile digestive tracts, absent of even good flora. but, perhaps it would be ok to give probiotics to a newborn so soon after being born due to the circumstances. not actually sure... anyway, hope to talk to you soon!! ps... email me offline and let me know how the little guy is doing on valtrex! tracey robin wrote: Well great. Guest guest
Yes, I'd already thought of bringing the probiotics to the hospital with me, or just having them right by my bed at home if we deliver that way. Our DAN had actually told me that I should give probiotics right away in the hospital if they give me or the baby anything. We ditched Valtrex. It didn't do anything for him. We never saw good or bad progress with it for over a month of use. We're trying Virastop, and some other natural antivirals. The HBOT did great for him though. He made a huge leap forward with that.
