Guest guest
Hey everyone, Well, after being told for over two weeks that Jodie was doing well enough to be moved to a regular hospital room, she finally was moved out of the ICU on Sunday, September 11. So, that was a good day for us. I think what finally prompted the move was our insurance company. I received a letter in the mail saying that as of September 9 it was considered medically unnecessary for Jodie to remain in the ICU and any further days there would not be covered by insurance. The letter was also sent to Jodie's doctor. So, I guess that's what finally prompted them to make the move. Everyone has been very happy that she has moved to a 'regular' room. She is still on isolation, which means anyone who visits her and any nurse, doctor, or tech who enters her room must wear gloves and a gown. Most people think it's to protect Jodie from their germs, but actually, it's to protect anyone who's in contact with Jodie from getting her 'germs.' Since she had that infection, although she doesn't seem to now, they don't want anything spreading to anyone else. She is doing well. She's in good spirits. She spends many hours every day sitting in her chair instead of laying in bed. She watches a lot of TV to stave off the boredom. On Friday, Eli and I are going to have a 'sleepover' at the hospital and spend the night with Jodie. Eli asked me a few days ago why we didn't sleep at the hospital anymore like the night we brought her into the hospital (at 2 a.m.). I told him we were only allowed because it was an emergency situation and because she was brought in so late. But, a day or so later a nurse asked her if she would like for her family to spend the night. Eli's 5th birthday is Tuesday, September 21st, so this is Jodie's birthday present to him. Her new address is Jodie Virago, Room 605, St. ph Medical Center, 7601 Osler Dr., Towson, MD, 21204. Sorry I haven't written in a while. I've been quite busy with school. It is going quite well. I have a very good group of kids. peace all, melissa -- ___________________________________________________________ Sign-up for Ads Free at Mail.com http://promo.mail.com/adsfreejump.htm
