Guest guest
Sue, thanks for all your useful information. Gosh it is so good to see you posting again. Yes they did do a culture. It was e coli. They found that the 2 antibiotics that I had been on were not the right ones. LOL The problem is that I'm allergic to everything that it was sensitive to. ( Penn, Cipro, Vanco, Gento, etc) there was only one, Ceftin that I could take. I was given an inj of Rocephin 2 grs and then put on oral Ceftin last Friday. As of Monday I was no better. Another inject. The Pyridium and Viocodin are just relieving me of my pain, But I can't do without them. I called again today to tell them I'm no better. It is after 5pm and I still haven't heard. I called 3 times. uGHH. I had chronic kidney infections for 2 years and know when I have one. I have the flank pain that is radiating from the bladder and ureters. I have no fever or chills and my white cells are staying within normal range. I just feel rotten.LOL Act pretty rotten too, just tired of hurting and want it all to go away. LOL Guess tomorrow I will HAVE to make someone do something. I would think my symptoms would have gone away after the injections and it has been 5 days on the RIGHT antibiotic. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know. I'm drinking as fast as I can an not just water but cranberry juice too. LOL I'm doing all the right things, just can't get the dumb thing to go away. Think I'll go surfing with . LOL Please keep posting. How are you doing? I sure miss not having you around more. Keep in touch and let us know how YOU are doing. hugs and more hugs
Guest guest
Hi ! Sorry to hear that they haven't resolved the problem yet. Have they done a repeat urinalysis and culture if indicated? I would think that if that antibiotic Ceftin was sensitive to the infection that you would be getting relief by now. We would have ordered another urinalysis to see if it indeed was clearing up the infection. Your urine should be back to normal if the antibiotic was working. Have they done that again? I don't know if you have just a copay on your meds but if not, pyridium can be purchased over the counter as Azostandard. It is a lower dose than that prescribed but if I remember correctly all you have to do is double the dose to get the same mgs as in the rx dose. I think at this point I would see a urologist. I'm sure they know better because they are the ones that get the patients after the regular doc has tried everything he/she can think of. I had a UTI and kidney infection once. I know how painful that could be. This is all you need on top of everything else you've gone through!!! Bless your heart you still have your great sense of humor!!!!!!! I really don't think surfing is the answer unless being scared to death will also scare the infection right out of your body! I wish there was something I could do to make you all better. I haven't found the magic wand yet!!! If I think of anything else I'll let you know. I'd ask the doctor I know who went blind, but he didn't answer when I tried to reach him a few minutes ago. I know he is leaving with his wife soon to go visit his folks in Michigan. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you even just looking stuff up or being a shoulder to lean on. I'd be glad to help. As for me I have been down lately. I'm flaring because of stress and feel exhausted today and between my nose and joints and the fibromyalgia I don't know what hurts more. I',m just being a baby, you certainly are hurting alot more than I can even imagine. I know I should try and keep stress free but neither Duane nor I have a job yet and we haven't enough money to pay the mortgage or second mortgage and though I know God is able to help us I find myself worrying that maybe His answer is no to my prayers. I have found some jobs but when I look into them I realize even more my limitations from this stupid disease!!!!!!!! One was in a nursing home that required one nurse to give out all the meds, do all the respiratory treatments, start IV's, assess all the patients and do dressing changes etc on, are you ready for this?, 20 patients!!!! All that would have to happen is for one patient to go down the tubes and the 19 others would not get the things they need. Besides both the doctor I used to work with and I felt that it was an impossible situation and totally unsafe, aside from the fact that running around doing it or trying my hardest to , would kill me off! Another job said I would have to be able to lift patients and with 4 thoracic fractures already, my physical therapist and doctor said absolutely not to take that job. There are others but I won't bore you with anymore. I'm beginning to think I'm totally useless and just a burden and no longer able to do much as a nurse! Duane can't even get an interview and they say there is no age discrimination!!! Well enough complaining! Sorry to go on like that you certainly have enough problems of your own!! I can't go surfing here in Colorado so instead of doing what your gonna do I think I'll just go climb one of the big mountains we have around here! Please let me know how you are doing and if I can answer any questions for you I would be happy to. I have plenty of med books around here. Oh, have you ever read any of Jan Karon's Mitford books? They are wonderful and left me feeling calm and relaxed and with a smile on my face. Everyone that I told to read them so far has enjoyed everyone of the series. Boy did I go on and on!! See it is a good thing I not post!! Continue to remember us in your prayers, please. I have been praying for you these days and hope you are well soon. Guest guest
Glenda Thanks so much for your kind words and prayers,we really need it more and more each day! I hope and pray my husband has a job by the end of the week, I just don't know what we are going to do at that point. I am trying to find a job that will be ok for me to do without making this darn rp worse. You are such a kind person to take the time to email me and it really means alot to me. Keep praying and may God bless you. Love Sue Park Re: Re:Thanks Sue Parks. Sue Sorry that you are having a time of it! I will be sending good thoughts and prayers your way. It would be hard to be a nurse and get this stuff. Especially if you have to be around sick people. That isn't a good idea in any job but nursing you couldn't stay away from the patients. Take care Lots of love Glenda DISCLAIMER!!WE ARE NOT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, THEREFORE ANY INFORMATION THAT IS RECEIVED HERE IS FROM EXPERIENCE ONLY.
