Guest guest
Deb, I've been out of touch with email so I missed this beginning thread. Are your girls still doing gluathione? If so, many (many, many!) people report being able to cut enzyme dose in half. Back in 1999, when started oral gluathione (capsules), he eventually found he could skip an enzyme and not suffer any digestive upset (he has always taken only 1 Pancrease capsule with each meal ever since he was diagnosed at age 4). Eventually, while still on glutathione, had to stop enzymes altogether. Then, he found that he was only having one bowel movement a week and very uncomfortable. So he stopped the gluathione capsules and resumed taking the Pancrease, still one capsule per meal. If your girls are also still taking the Solgar magnesium glycinate (chelated magnesium), this will help regulate fat absorption because magnesium is crucial for helping the body produce taurine. Taurine is an amino acid. Part of taurine's function is to emulsify and absorb fat. (It is also crucial for heart, brain and eye health.) 's doctor also told him that *sometimes* some people with CF as they get older stop needing enzymes for a while (either months or years), but then at some point need to resume them. If your girls are still doing Mannatech, perhaps some of the properties in Mannatech are working so they don't need as many enzymes. You really have to watch WHAT they're eating at each meal or snack and dose enzymes accordingly, much like a person with diabetes counting carbs to plan on how much insulin to take before a meal. Also, the symptoms sound like irritable bowel syndrome. You may want to do an internet search to learn more about this. Kim

We are still doing the glutathione and I have thought about that with the enzymes. Her stools really really look good!! Now my oldest has not complained about her stomach hurting as much as my youngest. We never did start the Mannatech products but we still use the Shaklee products which I think is a lot like Mannatech. I will have to try and not give her an enzyme and see what happens. We are also faithful with the magnesium wouldn't be without!!! Thanks for you help Kim!! Deb A
