Grapefruitseed Extract - Beware

More than one study has confirmed that grapefruit seed extracts that

possess antifungal and antimicrobial properties have been found to

contain high levels of chemical preservatives: benzethonium chloride,

triclosan and methyl paraben. Organic, all-natural GSE were did NOT

contain any of the above chemicals; however they were also ineffective

at killing fungi or bacteria.

It's true that GSE is an effective anti-fungal, don't be fooled into

thinking it's " natural " , because it isn't. If you're using GSE and it's

working, it's more likely due to the artificial chemicals listed above

than anything else.

I wonder why this isn't more well-known. Buyer beware.

What about NutriBiotic that everyone says to use on our children?

I don't know about specific brands, but I do know that brands that

were " organic " , meaning no additives or chemicals, were found not to

be effective against killing bacteria, I don't know if they tested

for fungi.

If NutriBiotic is not organic, there's a high likelihood that it also

contains those chemicals, but you might want to contact the company

and ask them to tell you EXACTLY how the GSE is extracted. I highly

doubt that they'd know or be able to give you the bottom line though.

Good luck.
