Guest guest
, Does Henry have polyps? If not, what is the purpose of the surgery? Thanks, Gale > Henry went to clinic today and we met with an ENT. We are going to finish the Zithromax and at the same time begin another antibiotic, Omnicef. The next visit is a month away and we are going to do a sinus CAT scan and meet with the ENT again. He seems to be thinking Henry will need surgery soon. This has not been something that my husband and I want to do yet. Henry seems so young. Henry has had recurring sinus infections, but the one time we did a longer round of antibiotics, at least 3 weeks of augmentin 400ES, he stayed clear for 4 months. Over the summer it seemed like he went from one infection to another, every few weeks. I am now wondering if this is because he wasn't completely cleared up each time, or if it wasn't the right antibiotic. The recurring infections seemed problematic for the ENT. He discussed a nasal antibiotic spray that could be mixed, but he said that it would only work after the surgery. The reason for this was that prior to the surgery it would only reach the nasal passages, not the sinuses. Without reaching the sinuses it would have no effect. Has anyone else experienced anything similiar? I am wondering if anyone else has gone through sinus surgery with such a young child. > > > mom to Henry, 2 wcf > > >

Guest guest
, Surgery is always scary especially with little ones. I know of 3 other kids who have had their adenoids removed all under age 3. These kids were non-cf and their health greatly improved after surgery. When we were waiting for Zach to get done with his ear surgery, another mom was waiting on her 21 month old who was having sinus surgery. I had mine taken out when I was four and that was back in 1973. There is anecdotal evidence that Pulmozyme by mask - not mouthpiece can help with sinus infections. Maybe Henry's pulmo and ent could check on this? When discussing the surgery ask how long the procedure will take including prep time, surgery and recovery. They told me Zach had a 15 minute procedure and he was gone an hour. I was freaking out. Luckily was Mr. Calm so I didn't make a scene. If I had been alone, it would have been a Terms of Endearment moment. Hope Henry does well with the CAT scan. Zach has never had one so I am interested to know what happens.
