Deb,

I just got your post because I haven't been on the computer much. I am in the

hospital. Saturday night I started throwing up terribly and the pain was

severe. We went to the ER and I was admitted. On Monday when my internal med

doc came in he told me the x-ray done in the ER showed I had an ileus. Caught

me off guard because I'd been at the hospital since late Saturday night and I

didn't find out about the ileus until Monday afternoon. I didn't ask the doc

any questions about what we'll do about the ileus. He just told me we were

going to have to take it very slow with my diet. He said the ileus was most

likely responsible for the pains in different areas of my belly. I tend to

have panc pain under my right rib, but this pain was in several locations.

This morning I began having terrible pain kind of under both breasts. It was

sharp, constant, and a 10+, despite just having 50 mg demerol IV only 30

minutes earlier. My doc said he was afraid the ileus was getting worse. He

told me that if it was they'd have to do an NG tube. They did x-rays this

morning but I don't know what the x-rays showed. I will think I'm getting

better, only for my pain to get worse again and my belly incredibly

distended. It was just my lower belly getting all distended. However, today

even the area over ribs is distended, more so on the right than the left.

I am so sick of this. I am terrified at the thoughts of them doing an NG

tube. Hopefully I'll get good new in the morning when I see my doctor again.

As for zoloft, I take 100 mg a day.

What is an ileostomy?
