Guest guest
Hi Laurie, Thanks for your detailed post in response to my eariler post about my hospitalization. I didn't copy/paste it here since there seems to be some confusion for me about posting, but I will clear that up. Anyway, I am home from the hospital but ended up coming home with the same problem I had going in. I am not able to eat more than liquids without pain. They did an MRCP, an upper GI, ultrasound, and a gastric emptying study. I also had blood labs all week. I have some new info but not a solution yet. I do have a dysmotility problem with my stomach emptying too slow. My MRCP, and ultrasound showed no abnormality of the ducts, pancreas etc. I did read an interesting study where they compared accuracy of MRCP to ERCP and MRCP was as good as ERCP in lots of problems with stones, but not with SOD. While I was there I had taken percocet for pain and this caused increased pain and nausea and vomitting. There seems some indication that this could be related to SOD. My LFTs were elevated after that for the first time it was documented. Although the bilirubin and pancreatic enzymes were not. So the only thing they can suggest is the ERCP and spinterotomy if necessary. I am very reluctant to have that done. I don't want to have a new problem. AS it is, I was told the gallbladder surgery would take care of that...and now things are worse. I am looking into alternative treatments and testing. I also have another GI appt coming up in a few weeks with a dysmotility specialist that I have been waiting 5 months for. I hope he knows something about this SOD. Laurie, I know you have had the ERCP but did you have the sphincterotomy? Thanks for all your help and I will look up those references you mentioned.
