Guest guest
Hi Chrissy, Just to explain, in answer to your post! Sue's operation was scheduled for next Thursday as soon as the docs decided she needed one. They always leave spaces for emergencies, of course, but they are very heavily booked up in advance for more " routine " operations. It simply did not seem worth sending her home in the meantime, I think, especially as she might have had another attack which would land her in A & E (ER) again. My only real worry is that an additional emergency might arise on Wednesday or in the early hours of Thursday, which could mean having to wait again. This hospital is a major teaching hospital and is always short of beds, especially post- surgical ICU beds. My ERCP wait is annoying and I'm going to e-mail Prof soon to ask about it. It is over a month since I saw him and still no date. The problem is that this ERCP is not part of any diagnostic or treatment programme. I am simply taking part in a research project. There's no sense of urgency at all! My feet held up very well in our walk! We walked 5 or 6 miles over quite rough country in the Derbyshire Peak District. I wore my very comfortable walking boots but put my arch supports in as well. I had no problems, thank Heaven. A glorious autumn day! In the evening we went to see " Twelfth Night " at a little gem of a theatre, Buxton Opera House. Buxton was a popular spa town in the 18th and 19th centuries. It's set up on the moors and has great architecture and lovely shops as well. I didn't get to see them to-day as we were walking but I must go again soon. The only downside was the 100 minute journey home in the dark, much on little country roads. Keep on building up your strength, Chrissy, and be ready for your big day soon. Thinking of you, Love, Fliss (UK)
