Guest guest
Deanna, Pulmozyme actually attacks the genetic make-up of any pseudomonas he might have, and it is long-lasting, whereas Albuterol lasts but about four hours. However, a rare percentage of those who try it experience hoarseness, which usually wears off right away. I think it is an excellent medication, and no, I do not take it because the hoarseness did not wear off with me! Love and good luck to you and with this, n Rojas Pulmozyme questions Hi Everyone ) went in for a check-up today, and everything looked good. But his cf doc wants to put him on Pulmozyme..... he has no " normal " cough only when he is sick. They already have him on 2 albuterol tmts a day just for standard protocol. I don't understand, I thought Pulmozyme was for those with a productive cough. Am I mistaken? All his last tests were good, his cf doctor even said " Without having the confirmed dx we wouldn't know he had cf. " Am I just overreacting? Also, I have heard you guys talking about using the pari neb with Pulmozyme, they don't want him using that, they said they want him to have a " side " neb , does anyone else use this type? Thank you, Deana Mom to 13 no cf and 7 wcf
Guest guest
Deana, has been on pulmozyme for more than 3 yrs (I think closer to 4) and has never had a productive cough unless she is sick. She barely coughs at all. I think that they like to keep the mucus thin, then it won't build up as much so when they get something going, there is less gunk to clear. We use a regular neb, but just do what the doc tells ya. Pulmozyme questions Hi Everyone ) went in for a check-up today, and everything looked good. Guest guest
We use a side stream for inhaled antibiotics. It doesn't let any escape into the air. Guest guest
Deanna, JC takes pulmozyme with the pari neb. I have no idea what the " side neb " is. The pulmozyme breaks down and thins the mucous making it easier to get out of the lungs. JC also has no productive cough. We wouldn't know he had cf except for an episode of dehydration when he was 4 months. No other outward signs. But the pulmozyme is a preventative type medicine that hopefully will delay lung damage. JC takes his albuterrol by inhaler with a spacer. It sures speeds up therapy not having to use the neb for it. You might check with your dr about trying that. Angie P.
