Guest guest
Maureen, NO.... that one is not legal. Sorry. You don't HAVE to use the DCCC on the Intro diet. Yes, it's included in the book.... but to be honest, we usually recommend a non-dairy version of Intro for the kids on the spectrum anyway. Have you seen the " ASD Intro " on www.pecanbread.com ? I'd say don't worry about it. I think some people have ordered DCCC online, but I have the same problem in my area. There is one natural foods store that I know carries it, but it's a 45 minute drive from me ..... so I just never use it. Patti, list moderator Dry Curd Cottage Cheese Obsession I've searched high and low and the best I could come up with is 's Organic cultured lowfat Cottage Cheese with 3 grams of Carbs. but now that I'm in good light and have a magnifying glass I see that it also lists ingredients of Organic skim milk, organic cream and organc nonfat milk powder. Should I just give up on the idea of Dry curd cottage cheese? No one in the stores knows what I'm talking about. My husband is ready to shoot me. He says I'm becoming obsessed. I know that it is in the introductory diet but the truth is I can't even explain to him what purpose it serves. I'm sure it does, but I just don't know what it is. To top of my obsession, if I ever find this stuff, my 6 year old, picky eater, son with autism, probably won't even sit in the same room with it. So is the cottage cheese I bought good? I kind of know that it isn't because it's not crumbly. Thanks, Maureen

Maureen, Where are you located? Another name for the DCCC is Pressed Cottage cheese. This is the U.S. Government link describing the cheese and its production rules in great detail http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/14mar20010800/edocket.access.gpo.gov/ cfr_2002/aprqtr/21cfr133.129.htm Carol F, SCD 7 years
Guest guest
Maureen, I had a good laugh over you becoming obsessed with something your kid will probably hate.... In any case, it's good to have another thing in the refrig, and there may be something to do with this stuff that your son will actually eat! Here's a link to a picture of Friendship brand DCCC, the brand that seems to be most commonly found. Maybe if you asked for Farmer's Cheese, the folks at the grocery might know what you need? http://www.friendshipdairies.com/products/farmerhoop.shtml Good luck! I make Cheesecake, Lasagna, Moussaka, preads and dips with DCCC. So far, everyone loves them and I refer to people who are not SCD. ( I agree that eating it straight from the package is not plesant though.) Carol F. SCD 7 years, celiac
