Guest guest
Sandy, There's no question that this doctor's approach and behavior with you was rude and condesending. He had no call to jump on you like he did, and start preaching about his own campaign, when all you wanted to know about was your thyroid. Yet there is truth to his statement concerning the correlation between obesity and high blood glucose levels, his remarks concerning that were right on target. Obesity is the number one problem with type II diabetes. I've included an url to a website that will explain the risks that occur in persons who fall into an obese catagory, the three most common are heart disease, high cholesterol and high blood glucose. http://www.nhbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/obesity/lose_wt/risk.htm It's evident that this doctor felt that his way was the only way and he was determined to push his way down your throat whether you wanted to hear about it or not. His god-like attitude would make him an impossible man to please, especially if you were to follow his outrageous diet and not perform precisely the way he claims you should. In spite of his unacceptability as a doctor for you, one positive result of the whole horrible experience may be that the new pancreatic specialist he wants you to see may be someone who really can help you. Just because this doctor was a jerk doesn't mean that the other one will be. I can remember MANY times when you needed a gastroenterologist and didn't have one, and were so upset because of it. The new Gastro may be the answer to your prayers, you never know until you go to see him. If he's not, then it's your option to go out the door, but I do think you should give it a chance first. As for the first doctor, what can I say that the other's haven't already? I hope you have a good weekend and not let this negative experience get you down. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
