HI all. I haven't posted in a couple of years...you go through phases,

you know? I'm on the SCD for Crohn's disease and my 6 year old son is

on it because we very strongly suspect he may have inherited his

father's AS. Well, I am just having trouble sorting this all out in my

mind... doctor's say one thing, our bodies say another and twenty-five

thousand books tell you twenty-five thousand different things. No one

else that I know is doing this diet in my area and I am feeling just

lost (and like a really mean mother!).

I would like to find a doctor that actually makes the connection

between diet and intestinal disorders (do they exist?) in the

borough, Ontario/ Toronto ( I hope I don't have to go that far)

area. I just about died a couple of years ago from a very serious

flare up (was on SCD at the time... think it was the three month flare

up) right after my third child was born. Being a single mom I just

have to get it all under control and I'd rather do it without pills

that will blow my liver out of the water! :) Am on lots of meds right

now but really really believe in this diet!

Sure do appreciate any suggestions.

Hi ,

<doctor that actually makes the connection

between diet and intestinal disorders (do they exist?>

There are probably not many in Ontario, but maybe there are some open

to the SCD, and that would support you with your decision to use the

SCD.(There is a list somewhere on-line of scd supportive doctors?)

Unfortunately, the Specialists are sometimes only good at diagnosing

chronic disease and treating the symptoms with drugs.

I am sorry to hear that you are on lots of meds. right now.

Maybe someone can help you over this difficulty, and get you back on

track.

<mean mother!>

You are not a mean mother, you are a wonderful mother doing what you

feel is best for your child.

I have a 6 and 9 year old on the diet...and I know it is not easy.

They still can get very upset about the things they can not

eat.(potatoes, rice etc.)At times I feel like a mean mother, especialy

when I have to make my daughter wait another day for a ripe banana

....It is not easy but if I give in she is sick.

Most people really don't understand what the SCD is really about..so

they think we are crazy.

WE are not crazy, we are just doing what works for us.

I hope you do find a more supportive doctor! I'm sure there are more

people on-line here who can give you some encouragement and help.

Kind regards,

Cathy
