Guest guest
Hi JT, I hope you're enjoying the holiday. I just thought I'd tell you that I'm one of those mentioned by Heidi. I have had pancreatitis all my life, with the first attack around the age of five..... and I'll be 59 in February! You need excellent medical guidance, support and treatment, preferably by the most experienced gastroenterologist you can access, or, of course, a specialist pancreatologist. I consult both. After initial updated diagnostic tests, it will be a question, as I'm sure you know, of following the correct dietary and medication advice as well as an appropriate lifestyle. This will depend on how the condition happens to affect you personally. We are all different. Despite many serious setbacks, I followed my chosen career of teaching and am still working as the dpeuty head of a large secondary school. I don't say it's as physically demanding as a military career, but, believe me, it's extremely demanding and it's VERY long hours! Don't be discouraged! You need to get over the initial shiock of diagnosis and then you will learn to manage the condition and cope with flares or setbacks IF they come along, which they well may not. Happy Holidays and a good New Year. Fliss (UK)
