Guest guest
How did you get your doc to okay the vest for her at such a young age? Also, how big around is her chest? My daughter will be 20 mos tomorrow, and her doc says NO to the vest until she is at least 2. Guest guest
The only thing I would suggest is to give your daughter a few days to get used to the machine. Let her stuffed animals wear the vest and do a treatment. I was surprised that it only took about 4 days for my daughter to wear the vest for the entire 20 minute session. My daughter received her vest at 14 months-old. She would not sit still for her treatments. All I did was contact the Vest company and ask for a prescription for my daughter's doctor. No one was concerned about her size or age. I now have a 6 month-old baby with cf. When I asked the (new cf) doctor about when he would receive his vest, the doctor said that he needs to be at least two. The reason is that there is some concern about the vibration/shaking of their little bodies/organs, etc. Something I never thought about. Anyway, we love the vest. I am really looking forward to my son receiving his one day. He is very active and I realize I had it easy with my daughter, she didn't fight treatments until she turned a year. We're scheduled to receive the vest on Tuesday. We'd appreciate any advise from all the vetrans. Thanks in advance. Guest guest
Something else that might help is to let her wear a sweat shirt while doing treatments so that it doesn't push so hard on her tummy. We eased Patti into her treatments and also let her brother and sister's take turns wearing it. We still do occasionally so that it will still be neat for her to do. Guest guest
Advanced respiratory said was one of the smallest and youngest that had the vest. I love the vest. It took only couple of sessions to work up to full therapy. I did not turn the frequency up all the way the first few times. (I did not want to scare him away)We used his favorite animal as others have suggested. If you are getting a custom fitted vest for her then there should be an extra larger one in the bag. I wore that one and we both done it. It will give you a true understanding of why sometimes she may want to do an alternative treatment, bouncing on the ball, bubbles, pats etc. LOVES to sing nursery rhymes, abc's when he does the vest cause he sounds so " funny " . Hope all works out well with your sweet baby Mikayla. Crystal (mother of 3 June 2) I THOUGHT the terrible twos were almost over now I believe he has just gotten them!! > > How did you get your doc to okay the vest for her at such a young > age?
