Guest guest
Hello again, I posted last night about my son yesterday.....and this morning he has had no apples whatsoever...Only eggs, 2 ripe bananas. He had a very loose stool, a lot of mucus. Could this be a good thing and yeast coming out? That may sound stupid but I don't know. Could this be left over from yesterday? Guest guest
Hi , It does sound to me like it might be a die off reaction. Please read this section from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endotoxin It explains that endotoxins are released when gram negative bacteria are lysed. (Lysed or Lysis refers to the death of a cell by bursting .) I am always thrilled when I read about our kids getting a die off reaction in the beginning of the diet because I know that it is a signal that the pathogens are leaving the body. Some children do well with SCD despite not having negative initial symptoms, that might be due to having pathogens that are not gram negative but have toxins that act in a different pattern. Here are tips for dealing with negative initial symptoms: http://www.pecanbread.com/new/temporarysymptoms.html We usually recommend that yogurt be introduced after the die off reaction has finished so that we might figure out if the negative reactions are caused by die off or intolerance to dairy. Maybe a wait of a month or so. We also prefer that parents use goat yogurt rather than yogurt made from cow milk. Guest guest
, I believe that you're seeing die off. Even the smallest amount of yogurt can trigger some major die off for some people, and you'll see it manifest through stools, behavior, and other physical changes. If you think that the applesauce may be causing some sensitivity for him, then switch over to homemade pear sauce. This works well for many who can't tolerate apples well. Just keep the yogurt dose very small for several days. I think you said 1/8tsp. is what you started with. Stick with that for several days, and then you can try 1/4 tsp. The stool that he had this morning certainly indicates die off, so that's an exciting thing.
