Guest guest
Green stools are common in the beginning and associated with die-off. Elaine Gottschall was always pleased at parent reports of green stools.... she said it was a good thing, and means " things are really changing down there! " . Don't worry, it's temporary. Patti BM Explaination DS is on his 4th day of SCD. We are still doing intro because I made a mistake the first 2 days. Anyway, stools are still loose and dark green, but not as frequent (only 2 vs 7 a day). Could someone please give me an explaination for the dark green stools? He attends a special drop in play group while I work a few hours a week and they are a little freaked out. They have been wonderful in helping me with his special dietary needs but I think this one has them a little worried. Thank You! Guest guest
Liz, Dark green is probably yeast, bacteria, ect. Just think of when you see moss and such on a rock, a piece of moldy bread, ect. It's green isn't it? Some yeast is green, some white, ect. The couple of times that my husband has done SCD intro diet to " clean out " his gut...never lasts more than a week for him...his stools are grass green every single time. Guest guest
I really don't know because I don't know a thing about kefir. The gritty stools are not uncommon especially toward the beginning of SCD, but no one truly knows what it is. It is speculated that it is oxilate crystals. The light green would probably be die off as well, but again, because you've started the kefir, I just can't say for sure. Patty might know, and Mimi is pretty knowledgeable about kefir, I think. Meleah Re: BM Explaination Are lighter green stools also a sign of die off? My son has had 3 blowout diapers in the last 24 hours and they are all light in color and a strange gritty but claylike texture. I started him on kefir and have wondered if this was a sign of a healthier system down there from the kefir. The kefir has been the only real change recently. ----- Original Message ----- Green stools are common in the beginning and associated with die-off. Guest guest
, Kefir is legal (if prepared by SCD instructions).... but advanced. How long has he been on SCD? Paler stools may reflect issues with fat digestion, but I'm not sure that's the only cause. I think any time you introduce a new probiotic source, you can trigger die-off. Guest guest
Thanks. Since January. He didn't really have obvious issues... we changed out eating styles at our house because of my dd who had huge stool issues. So I haven't really been watching DS, he's just been eating what I've prepared which means he's been eating along with my DD. ----- Original Message ----- , Kefir is legal (if prepared by SCD instructions).... but advanced.
