Guest guest
Hi Mike, welcome aboard. You certainly have been through a lot. You had a total pancreatectomy? I'm just trying to understand. It did not give you any relief at all? How long ago did you have it? I also had a total, about 9 weeks ago, I think. I had mine done in Cincy. Feels like it has been an eternity, like its been months and months and months. I am going nuts sitting around the house all the time and am just aching to go back to work. Every once in a while I will turn a certain way, or strain a bit and will get this really super sharp pain. It scares me sometimes but I just try to relax and let it subside. I think I still have a lot of surgical healing going on in there. I have heard a lot of people say that it takes up to a year before our bodies get settled in with all the changes that the surgery leaves. But I still find that I need some narcotics from time to time, unfortuneatelty. I'm sure you will have lots to share with the members of this board. I hope you feel better soon. Warmly, Chrissy
Guest guest
Welcome Mike! All I can say to this is that I hope you give your mother a big hug every day! What a blessing it was that she finally made sure that you went somewhere where you could get someone to believe you. It's hard to imagine that you were having to endure that kind of pain for so long. You've been fortunate, too, not to have had any problems with diabetes, considering how little pancreas you had left for all that time. When was the surgery done where they removed the spleen, diseased pancreas and gall bladder? After just receiving notification that I'm going to be receiving SSDI disability after a grueling two year struggle and all the initial denials, too, I can understand how frustrating that whole experience has been for you. Isn't it just such a relief to have that over and know that you're going to have the benefits that you're entitled to? I'm still a bit in awe about the whole thing. I hope you can find the support and friendship here, Mike, that you're looking for. We have a wonderful group of caring, unselfish people here who are always willing to help each other with their problems and questions, or to share a laugh with. Feel free to join in whenever you wish. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina State Rep. Guest guest
Mike, I can't speak for anyone else, but I like the way you write. You tell about your experiences in your own way. It makes sence and thanks for sharing with all of us. Clayton
Guest guest
Thanks Clayton, I mean that. I am a different type of person than most, humor and fun are who I am. The terms I use are not the ones the dr.'s use or the medical people, I leave that to them and my wife, lol. Some think I like to ramble on a bit, I agree, Love to talk. My problem now is I get no outside life day to day, only conversations I get are with people younger than 10, I get to win most, and my wife loves it when she gets home and I don't shut up for a few hours, she nods and hopes I run out of air. Caller ID has hurt me too, people she my name on the phone and all I get to do is fill the answering machine up with one message. Good thing I can't type better or this site would need more bandwidth. If I get out of hand, please tell me to be quite, I'll understand and tellyou so in a few minutes, lol. What was this thread about again? Mike > > Mike, > > I can't speak for anyone else, but I like the way you write. You > tell about your experiences in your own way. Guest guest
Mike, Don't worry, the meds do funny things to many of us.....I ALWAYS like to talk or write too much, too, so I don't think I can blame it on the meds....lol! It's good that you kept pushing for your disability. I've heard stories just like yours about the Dr.'s that are working for the SSDI.....it's their mission to find " some " kind of job, no matter how menial, or that it's not something that's even available in your area. As long as they can place you into some catagory, then they can say you're still qualified and could work. My attorney warned me about this, too, saying that there would be a Vocational Counselor at my hearing and that the man would find " something " , like sitting watching TV monitors at a mall or something. When I protested that I can't sit for longer than an hour or so, my attorney said, " yes, I know, but that doesn't matter, he'll find something! " So I'm so grateful for the early decision so I didn't have to face that. I've heard that most of the judges are well experienced in knowing what a person with CP and the other related medical problems can and cannot do, and are usually sympathetic and knowledgeable enough to award the benefits, you just have to get by all the inexperienced doctors and other reviewers along the way that don't know beans about it. You were fortunate to have so much help from your parents during those times when you couldn't do anything yourself. I've heard stories from a lot of people who were fighting for disability that lost everything they owned in the process of getting it, or came so close that they had financial difficulties for years afterward. It's really a shame that the system is so hard for these people, yet I do understand that they do have to keep the scammer's out of the SSDI treasury, and there are a lot of people who go for it when they really don't have the rights to. Glad you're here, just let us know if there's anything we can do for you. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina State Rep. Guest guest
Mike, live with it! So you like to chat, talk and communicate? I'd say that is a good thing. I do about the same thing too! Infact, I get paid to talk, (I am a salesman/consultant). So I can relate. Clayton
