Guest guest
My son has been wearing a helmet now since the 23rd of december. It has been going ok and he has made some progress since getting the helmet. We have already been back now for 2 adjustments. The 1st one due to the fact that it was to lose and was falling down to the bridge of his nose at night when sleeping. The 2nd time was yesterday because I notice an indention in the back of his head. We had seen our regular dr earlier in the morning because the boys have colds and the dr said he thought the indention was not a big deal but my husband still took him in to see the ortho later yesterday where they made more adjustments. Fast foward to this morning. He now has a red knot on his forehead and you can feel some fluid under the knot. Should I be concerned? The ortho office doesn't reopen till monday and I don't feel comfortable about putting the helmet back on till the red mark and swelling goes away. Not sure if this matters or not but where the knot is is where his head bulges out on that side.
Guest guest
keep a close watch on the red knot. don't put the band on if it isn't fading. If it does fade still do frequent skin checks. It is fairly normal for lymph nodes to swell on the head (usually just a response to some germs in the environment), but you don't want that spot to become too irritated from the pressure of the helmet. -christine sydney, 4 yrs, starband grad > > My son has been wearing a helmet now since the 23rd of december.
