Elaine has a suggested constipation remedy on her website which is temporarily down. When it reopens, just enter " constipation " in the search box feature. I believe it is orange juice combined with prune nectar (Sunsweet) that has been reduced by simmering and also eating some nut flour muffins after. Because the prune nectar becomes hghly concentrated it may work for you when the prune juice did not. Also drink plenty of water. I find cooked vegetables like squash and cauliflower add bulk and also help with constipation. Carol F. SCD 7 years, celiac
Guest guest
Definitely not legal.... sorry. Adding a magnesium supplement may help a lot...... I would use magnesium citrate or oxide.... and go with 500 or 600 mgs or more, adjust dose to what works for you. In a super urgent situation, I would suggest resorting to oral magnesium sulfate (epsom salts) mixed according to the package directions. This is only something to use on rare occasions... not daily.... but works quickly. Many people also report that the Electrolyte Drink, from Elaine's website www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info , in the Knowledge Base, under " E " .... works very well in alleviating constipation. Patti Metamucil powder or capsules? Can I take them? Hi, I have always struggled with constipation and used to take Metamucil pretty much every night. When I started the SCD diet I stopped the metamucil since the powder has sugar. I have been on the diet for over a week and am horribly constipated even though I seem to be eating plenty of fiber. So I bought some sugar free Metamucil, but then saw that it has malodextrin in it. Are the capsules safe? Is anything safe for Constipation (prune juice doesn't help either). I know my body is probably just adjusting to the diet, but I need something to help! Thanks!
Guest guest
What about apple cider viegar with baking soda added, the electrolite drink on pecanbread.com in the recipe section, stewed prunes, or prune juice boiled down to half the amount that you started with in the pot? These are all great natural ways to get the bowels moving. Meleah Metamucil powder or capsules? Can I take them? Hi, I have always struggled with constipation and used to take Metamucil pretty much every night. When I started the SCD diet I stopped the metamucil since the powder has sugar. I have been on the diet for over a week and am horribly constipated even though I seem to be eating plenty of fiber. So I bought some sugar free Metamucil, but then saw that it has malodextrin in it. Are the capsules safe? Is anything safe for Constipation (prune juice doesn't help either). I know my body is probably just adjusting to the diet, but I need something to help! Thanks!
