Guest guest
Hi Jill! Welcome to the group! Let us know if you have any questions especially as you begin the starter diet. Do not get discouraged if she refuses to eat. Some children will refuse to eat for a few days and then will suddenly decide the new foods are pretty good after all. It is a major adjustment but very well worth it. One suggestion as you start the intro diet is that many kids seem to have issues with carrots and Patti (one of the moderators) suggests giving butternut squash in its place. So, if she does not seem to tolerate carrots you do have an alternative. Many parents complain that their children will not eat the chicken soup. My two years olds were among them. So, this is what I do, I put the whole organic chicken in a very large pot and cover with water and add a couple of cloves of garlic. I let it simmer for about two hours and then pour off the " broth " and pull meat off the bne. You can mix the broth half and half with welches 100% white grape juice or your own freshly juiced juice. I use the chicken to mince in a food processor, mix with cooked mashed butternut squash and some oil, form nuggets on cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. My boys love it. I also make meat balls with organic hamburger or buffalo mixed with cooked, mushed butternut sqaush. Anyway, these are just a couple of ideas to help you through intro. Don't forget you can make homemade jello with welche's 100% white grape juice or fresh (you juice yourself) apple juice and knox gelatin. (Just dilute half/half with water). Hope this helps and welcome to the group! Dana and Garrett SCD 9 1/2 months Celiac, ASD, Speech and Motor Apraxia --------------------------------- Be a PS3 game guru. Guest guest
Hi Dana, Thanks for the great suggestions. I'm definitely going to give the squash a try, as well as your ideas for the soup. I just made the jello tonight for tomorrow's snacks, so I hope my daughter likes it. She didn't eat much food today, but she was in a much better mood tonight after an epsom salt bath. I like your idea of the chicken nuggets, since that is one of her favorite foods. It's nice to meet you, and I look forward to learning a lot from everyone!
